Inver Caravan Park - Dog Friendly Caravan Park in Dunbeath, Highlands

All bookings must be made online WEBSITE BOOKING PAGE.

Inver Caravan Park is normally open all year. It is adjacent to the A9, right on the North Coast 500 driving route, also a very useful stop-off for walkers and cyclists doing the End-to-End in either direction, and for those heading to or from the Orkney islands. It's also great if you are walking the 'John o' Groats Trail' from Inverness to John o' Groats. Stop here for a few days and walk the cliffs without your back-pack, using the bus to return here after your planned daily walk. It's also a relaxed place to chill out!

We have 10 hard standings for motorhomes, 5 smooth grass pitches with electric hook-ups for campervans, tents and for caravanners who prefer to park on grass, and 4 smooth grass pitches with no electric for those who don't need electric. We have some surrounding trees for shelter, 18 electric hook-ups, mains water, recycling facilities and a dump station for disposal of grey water and chemical toilet disposal. The roads in the caravan park are tarred and gritted, and therefore not muddy, whatever the weather or season.

Facilities
In spring 2011 we completed a major extension and upgrading of our Facilities Block, which now has double glazing, lots of insulation, underfloor heating throughout and the whole building is tiled from floor to ceiling. We have 3 private unisex shower rooms with excellent power showers and automatic hand driers.

One is very suitable for disabled visitors. In 2017 the showers were further upgraded with new wetwall and new shower trays. In November 2019 we have added a bathroom with a shower over the bath. This has proved to be popular, especially with tired walkers, cyclists, chilly bikers and families with small children. There is a hair drier and shaver point in the hall of the shower area. There is also a separate WC.

In our separate kitchen/ laundry area we have a washing machine, a sink for hand washing clothes and an iron and ironing board. We do not have a tumble drier, preferring to encourage visitors to dry clothes on the washing lines to make use of the plentiful wind! However, we also have pulleys in our boiler room/drying room where clothes are guaranteed to dry overnight when this is necessary.
For dish washing we have a double sink and drainer and plenty of work surface to put dishes on.

Locally
Inver Caravan Park is a few minutes walk from the SPAR shop, and from 'The Bay'inn, bar, eatery. The local beach, children's play park and tennis court are also nearby, as are the excellent Dunbeath Heritage Centre and the Laidhay Croft Museum and Tearoom. Within easy reach are lovely walks up the Dunbeath Strath, and also a good vantage point from which to view puffins.

This is also an excellent place to stay while walking the John o' Groats trail from Inverness to John o' Groats, which in this area is a clifftop pathway which is constantly being upgraded. It is easier to follow earlier in the season before the vegetation makes it hard to see.
