SolentK9 is run by Jo Preston, who aims to provide a personal service that will keep your pets happy, satisfied and secure in your home. SolentK9 also has a number of people to help provide these services if required.
Jo is the proud owner of three dogs. A two year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever called Ankti, a six year old Border Collie called Gee, and a seven year old Jack Russell called Titch.
is currently training in obedience, working towards her Gold Good
Citizen Award, and just starting her Agility career.
Gee loves Agility, Treibball and a new game called Sheep Balls but unfortunatly he is now no longer able to do Agility or Sheep balls because he has recently been diagnosed with Spondylitis, fusing of the vertebrae in his lower spine. So he is having a well earned rest. He still enjoys walks in the woods and has a ramp to help him get in to the van.
is training and competing in Heelwork to Music. He loves Dressage and
Dances best. Titch was also in the Heelwork to music demonstration
team for Crufts 2012. He has just secured a place in the Southern Team, Heelwork to Music Interegional Team Competition in August. With his Freestyle, Keep Fit routine.
All three dogs are part of her family and she strives to give them the love, care, training and attention they deserve.
Jo has 7 years experience caring for & training dogs and is a qualified Clicker Trainer, with CAP 1 & 2 certificates (Competency Assessment Programme). Jo uses positive training methods focusing on positive reinforcement and rewards.
Jo appeared at Crufts 2011 and 2012, with two of her dogs, breed showing and Heelwork to Music demonstrations. Jo has competed with her dogs in Heelwork to Music, Agility and Obedience, and is a Heelwork to Music judge and trainer.
In addition she has 38 years experience owning and training horses to eventing competition level.

“I have known Jo for a number of years and would not hesitate to recommend her. Jo has been involved with dogs for many years and always puts the dogs welfare first. As a professional dog trainer I am often asked to recommend some-one to dog sit/walk and Jo is always the first person that comes to mind. I would be more than happy to leave Jo in charge of my dogs knowing they would be in safe hands. Fareham Hampshire”

“Hi! My name is Oscar I am a 4 months old Black Labrador. I would like to tell you about my experience with Solent K9. My owners have to go out to work every day to help pay for my food, toys and puppy classes. During the day this lovely lady called Jo comes in and takes me for visits and walks in her van, otherwise I would be a very lonely and bored puppy. Sometimes she brings me friends to play with. Jo always has lovely treats in her pocket, and all I have to do is sit, lie down or give her my paw and she gives them to me. Every week she teaches me a new trick and I get more treats...I love Jo!! Jo either takes me out for lovely walks all different places or she takes me to Puppy Romp classes where I get to spend time with other puppies my age. My owners say I am a very well behaved dog and they think it is down to Jo showing me the puppy ropes. I would have no difficulty in recommending owners to let Jo play with their dogs, as long as she brings them round to play with me!!! Love Oscar x”

“December 2011 Jo has been walking my terrier, Barney, for me for the last three weeks. I know her and her own dogs well and she was my ideal choice when I needed help giving Barney controlled exercise whilst I have been at work. She has been reliable and because Barney is recouperating after treatment for muscle injuries, I have been able to state the requirement for each walk, any concerns I may have, with confidence it will be adhered to. I have then had reliable feedback as to how he has gone after each walk, enabling me to monitor his progress. I have no problem at all in recommending Jo to anyone who requires a dog walker, for what ever reason, and hasn't the benefit of knowing some one experienced. Barney can also be prone to being unpredictable with some dogs, and I have had every confidence that Jo would cope with any eventuality. I would/will definately use Jo again Loraine Chadwick, Portchester, Hampshire”

“April 2012 Dear Jo Thank you for all week, you’ve taken very good care of my dog Bastiene. He’s been very calm in the mornings when I had to leave him on his own at home. So this tells me that he is relaxing at home after the first day walking with you. “Brilliant job”. He settles very well during the night which signals that he had long walks during the day. I would like to thank you for this and would like to use your service in the future. Katerina Grafova, Leigh park, Hampshire ”

“June 2012 Jo has been walking Ella for two weeks now. We are really happy with the way their relationship is developing. Ella is clearly happy with Jo. She no longer barks when Jo enters the house whilst we are out. She is definitely getting enough exercise, sleeping through the night without waking us up to go out. Jo always locks the house up after walking Ella and comes across very professional, so we do not have any concerns or worries. Thanks Jo! Nic Aylard, Widley, Hampshire”
