Old Clayton Kennels Dog Rescue

We
have been taking in stray dogs found in Adur and Worthing districts
in order to support our local councils since spring
2000.
Fortunately many dogs are collected by their owners,
however, there are sadly some that need a little more help. That is
why we have a dedicated team of rescue staff looking after them until
they are found new, loving homes.
Our
process for re-homing a rescue dog involves a number of steps…
Firstly, we ask each prospective owner to complete one of our profile application forms, which is stored in our database of prospective candidates. This provides us with all the relevant information about the type of dog you are looking for and the type of home you can offer them.

Secondly,
when a new rescue dog arrives we look for a suitable home from our
database. Next we invite the prospective owner to meet the dog and
take them for a walk on our premises. If a bond develops we arrange a
home check at which point we bring the dog with us to see how
everyone gets on in the home environment.
Provided all goes well, we leave the dog for a foster period of seven days and if all parties are still happy at the end of these seven days, the dog is formally adopted.
We ask for a minimum donation of £90.00 for each of our rescue dogs at the start of each foster period. This ensures we send every dog to their new home having been throughly checked by a veterinarian, fully vaccinated, frontlined, wormed and microchipped.

If you decide against adoption at the end of the seven day foster period, the donation is non refundable.
