About Me
I have always liked art from a very young age and, even though I would have liked to have taken it up as a profession, I decided I should get a "proper" job and trained to be a nurse. I remained in this profession for over 36 years before I took early retirement in 2012
I have also been a big animal lover and have had several dogs and horses. I have competed in obedience shows with my German Shepherd and also show jumping with my horses. This became an inspiration for much of my work.
I began to reconnect with my art after the death of my father and went to watercolour classes as this was something I wanted to learn more about, and continued with those classes for 4 years. I then discovered pastels and began to do pet portraits for friends and colleagues. The demand for this has encouraged me to make this a more commercial venture.
Ordering Process
A good pet or animal portrait needs a selection of good photographs.
Clear and detailed photos showing true colouring of the fur and eyes is preferable. A ¾ view of the face/head is best rather than face on.
Having someone to help with the photographing is best to hold or encourage your pet/animal to get the best pose. Tit-bits or a favourite toy are useful.
Take as many photos as possible from different sides preferably in daylight as artificial light tends to give a more yellow image and a flash will give red eye. Be at the animals level when you take your photos.
If you have lost your beloved pet the as long as existing photographs meet the above requirements then I can hopefully use them.
All photos will be returned on completion of your portrait.
