The Old Stables Cottage – Dog friendly cottage in Carmarthenshire

The Old Stables Cottage is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday with your dogs.  The cottage is at Sir Johns Hill Farm which has one of the finest locations in West Wales where the views are truly outstanding.  The farm has 10 acres, but is surrounded by fields and woodland, which gently drop down to the sea.  It is a very peaceful place and well away from main road, but does have the advantage of being only half a mile from the township of Laugharne.  It is a pleasant stroll down into Laugharne, but with the Farm being at the top of a very steep hill it is definitely a more strenuous walk on the way back.  A torch is provided for anyone wishing to walk back from Laugharne after dark.

The Old Stables Cottage is a great place for people who like to get away from it all and stay in a comfortable cottage with fantastic views.  There are lovely coast and countryside walks direct from the Farm, beautiful dog friendly beaches a short drive away, and a number of dog friendly places where you can eat and drink locally.  Many people who come and stay in the cottage tend to spend a lot of time just relaxing in the cottage, in the garden or walking in the fields at the Farm, but there are lots of interesting local attractions for all the family to enjoy and many great places to go out for a drink, snack or meal.

The Old Stables Cottage has been designed with dogs and their owners in mind.  It is easy to clean with filed floors and rugs throughout and leather settees.  There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, bathroom with a large double shower, a large lounge, a spacious well fitted kitchen and a dining conservatory. The cottage has lots of cupboard and wardrobe space and a well stocked kitchen.  Beds are made up on arrival and bath, hand and tea towels are all provided.  There is a TV and DVD in the lounge, a CD/radio in the dining room and also in both bedroom.  There is free wifi.

Externally there is a front courtyard with seating and space to park a car.  To the side of the cottage, there is a gravelled area with a picnic bench which leads into an enclosed garden with secure fencing and a further bench.  There is a hosepipe in the garden and an outside tap at the rear of the cottage and also an outside tap with hosepipe outside the unused stables in the courtyard.

The cottage is a great year round destination.  It is lovely to sit out in the garden or the front courtyard in the summer, but in the winter, or when the weather is not so pleasant you can sit in the conservatory and look across the sea to Worm’s Head on the Gower.  The cottage is very warm as it has LPG central heating and is very well insulated.
