Bodmin Keep: Cornwall's Army Museum

Follow in the footsteps of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry as you explore Bodmin Keep, the Grade II listed Army Keep, and former home of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry Regiment. Visit the armoury and regimental police cells, and discover surprising and unusual objects from over 300 years of military life. 

 

Collections include uniforms, medals and historic weaponry relating to the Cornwall Volunteers and Militia, The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and The Light Infantry regiments. Highlights of the collections include the Harry Patch display, stained glass windows, and even a pair of painted eggs dating from the Boer War! 

 

The museum holds special events and activities all year round, and is open every day during the school holidays. Please visit the website for details of events and opening times before your visit.  

 

The Keep also has a gift shop, refreshment area and vintage and second-hand bookshop. There is extensive library and archives on the ground floor, and research and family history enquiries are welcomed by appointment.  

 

Bodmin is a former garrison town and historic County Town of Cornwall. There are various beautiful dog-friendly walks around the town which often include the nearby Bodmin Beacon, local nature reserve.
