The Hill Cottage - Dog Friendly Cottage In Killyleagh, County Down

Delightful family friendly country cottage. We welcome children and dogs, boasting a secluded garden with extended views across the Co. Down countryside. The Hill Cottage makes a wonderful and peaceful, yet convienent, base for your stay in Northern Ireland.

The holiday cottage was converted from an old stone farm building. The back door opens onto the old farm yard with ample car parking space. French doors open onto a private south facing garden with patio, B-B-Q and garden furniture and a wooded area with cut paths ideal for children and dogs to walk and play in. We have new walks along a grassy lane to our woods and also to our river which are great for children and dogs.

The Hill Cottage was converted from a stone farm building in 1990. The back door opens into the old farm yard (now only used for the owner’s Connemara ponies).

The cottage has French doors on the South side opening onto a patio and a private garden with a beautiful view across the countryside to Slieve Croob Mountain in the distance. Walk to the top of the hill and enjoy views as far as the Mourne Mountains, the Ards Peninsular and the Cave Hill.

We (Kelsie and David, the owners) live in the old stone built farm house now a “listed” building. We try our best to make all our guests welcome and ensure that they have an enjoyable stay with us.

Relax in the peace and quiet in the garden, spend an evening browsing through the books, or play a game in front of the log fire. We are delighted to have children coming and hope they will enjoy our little woods with cut paths through it to play in, also good for dogs to have a run!

The cottage lies between the two villages of Crossgar and Killyleagh, both have a good local butcher, greengrocer, small supermarket, chemist and post office, not to mention a wine store and off licence. Downpatrick 7 miles away has Asda and Lidls so shopping is not a problem. There is even a fish and chip or Chinese carry out!

However if you fancy going out for an evening meal try The Smugglers Table In Killyleagh enjoyed by previous guests or opt for the lively atmosphere of The Dufferin Arms situated in the shadow of the fairy tale Killyleagh Castle (originally 400 years old and still lived in today).
