Ullswater 'Steamers' - Dog-friendly days out in the beautiful Ullswater Valley, the Lake District

We have four piers in operation - Glenridding, Pooley Bridge, Howtown and Aira Force.

A pawsome adventure for the whole family!

Cruises operate daily except on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day*. Dogs are welcome on board (a small charge applies) and at the pier houses. Plenty of walks of varying length around England's most beautiful lake, Ullswater, as well as more challenging hikes into the Lakeland fells. Most local pubs and hotels welcome dogs.

The Ullswater Way is a waymarked 20-mile walk around Ullswater and can be walked in either direction and from any starting point. While many choose to walk the entire route in one day, it is possible to complete the walk in shorter sections using the Ullswater ‘Steamers’.

Boats offer indoor and outdoor seating, toilets and light refreshments. The main pier houses at Pooley Bridge and Glenridding provide both indoor and outdoor seating, refreshments, Wi-Fi, toilets, plus dog water bowls. There is a National Trust tearoom at Aira Force and a tea room along the Glenridding to Howtown section of the Ullswater Way. Dogs are welcome at these premises.

Full information and fares can be found on our website.
