The Bay Horse Hotel - Dog Friendly Hotel in Ulverston, Cumbria
Robert and Lesley Lyons along with their small, friendly team have welcomed overnight guests and customers to their simple inn where many years ago folk would once have stayed before making the treacherous crossing over the Morecambe Bay sands by coach and horse or on foot. During this time they have played host to countless celebrations, birthdays, anniversaries and the occasional wedding. It’s the perfect place to stay should you be a cyclist, angler, golfer or about to embark on walking The Cumbria Way, or simply to have a relaxing break. We also have safe storage for cyclist’s bikes.
Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay overnight for a small charge.
The restaurant will be open as usual for lunches, lite bites and bar meals from Wednesday to Sunday and evening meals on Wednesday to Saturday nights.#
Accommodation
Eight en-suite bedrooms are available in the house, six of these have French windows out on to a terrace, giving the full panoramic view over the estuary (a bird watchers paradise). Over the years we have become synonymous for our cooking and indeed the food we prepare and serve is, in our eyes, the true meaning of our existence.
All produce used is, where possible, local where we try and arrange simple dishes alongside the more adventurous and imaginative ones. The Aberdeen Angus steaks have become a popular feature.
At dinner in the evening, everything from the selection of breads offered at the beginning to the chocolate truffles at the close, are prepared in our kitchen.
To compliment the food, we offer a good selection of wines from around the world, which offer, in our opinion, a perfect marriage with the cooking. We have a great selection of wines, malt whiskies, gins, ports and other spirits.
