Riverside Cottage (Sleeps 5)
Riverside Cottage was originally built and used as the school house for the families living in the area from the 1800s until 1904 when the school was moved and the building was converted into a house.

It has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a triple bunk bed (double on bottom, single on top) so ideal for families or two couples visiting together.  Upstairs there is a shower room with toilet, and downstairs an additional bathroom with bath and hand held shower.

There is a large open plan living / dining room with bifold division if you prefer a cosy night in front of the wood-burning stove. The kitchen is well equipped with electric oven and hob, large fridge freezer and dishwasher. We have a separate utility room with washing machine. Outside there is ample grass and paved areas to keep everyone entertained and a wood-fired hot tub with magnificent 360 degree views.

Downstairs is mainly washable floor so we are happy to accept well behaved dogs.

Avondale (Sleeps 9)
Avondale was built in 1826 and used as a double height Chapel for the local community of Corn Mill and Slate Quarry workers. The wall and railings at the front of the properties are typical of chapels from this time, and Avondale still has its original double opening front doors. In 1904 the congregation and was so large a new chapel was built closer to the centre of Rhewl and the building was converted to a house.  The original large roof timbers for the double height roof can still be seen.

Things to do
Many of the activities in and around Llangollen originate from its location on the River Dee and the historical significance of the area. Enjoy a days fishing on The River Dee, one of the purest rivers in Europe and internationally renowned for brown trout and grayling fishing, also with good runs of salmon and sea trout throughout the season. Day tickets available.

The Llangollen canal was built by Thomas Telford between 1795 and 1805 originates at the famous Horseshoe Falls and runs across Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The aqueduct is the largest in Britain with 18 Piers 126ft high and 19 arches each with a 45ft span. There is a canal tow path along the full run of the canal, or save your legs with a ride on a powered or horse drawn canal boat.
