The Ogwell Dog Trainer

Every Pet Deserves Good Training

I cover all aspects of dog training. Small friendly puppy classes, private one-one lessons, recall workshops, scent & trick training, training walks, home visits & residential training.

We have a number of different classes catering for various ages and experience.  We also offer 1-1 training which can be held at our venue or in the comfort of your own home and also provide a training walk service. We believe it is important to train in a real life environment so having indoor and outdoor facilities at our venue allows us this luxury.

Our Venue:  Holiday Home for Pets Boarding Kennels, East Ogwell, Just outside Newton Abbot.

All our training is reward based and we treat all dogs with kindness and respect. The outdated methods of using rolled up newspapers, choke chains and squirty bottles are un-necessary and will do nothing for your relationship with your dog.

We use clicker training which is positive reward based training. You get a clicker included with your lesson.
Residential Training
Residential training enables your dog to get daily intensive 121 training sessions which can be combined with your annual holiday.
Puppy Training School and Socialisation
Designed to be informative and fun for both you and your pup. We provide expert training for pups aged 8-16 weeks using reward based clicker training.

Dog Training with Caroline
About Me
I have always had dogs and can’t ever remember a time without one.  As a child I grew up with a Jack Russell, Springer and Golden Retriever. I always loved dogs from a very young age and my mum often tells of how she had great trouble when I was a young child, from stopping me from going up to any dogs I met in the street. In 1983 myself and my father opened a boarding kennels and cattery and I have worked with dogs ever since.  I started my dog training journey in 1992 gaining a puppy instructor certificate. I am a qualified instructor and member of the Institute  of Modern Dog Trainers which means I abide by a strict code of ethics and have been tested and assessed, not only on my theoretical knowledge but on my practical ability too. I have attended many seminars and workshops over the years and continue to attend seminars, workshops and training weekends to further my education and keep my training current.

My whole life revolves around dogs, either caring for and exercising the dogs in the boarding kennels, tutoring dog training lessons, training dogs for clients or training my own dogs.  I share my life with 7 dogs of my own.  5 patterdale/Jack Russells, a Cypriot hound that took a shine to me while I was on holiday there 8yrs ago and a working cocker spaniel with whom I have done various types of training, including obedience, agility, scent, tricks and gundog.  I am passionate about dog training so when I am not doing any of the above I am usually at a seminar or workshop learning more about dogs and dog training.

“The whole family (with puppy of course) went to puppy training classes as we realised it was really about us all learning the cues as much as the dog! We all thoroughly enjoyed our classes - Caroline is so good with the dogs, they learn very quickly using her methods and really enjoy the fun had whilst learning. We now have a very happy puppy who is an absolute pleasure to be with and we can take her anywhere with the confidence that she knows how to behave nicely wherever she is. (She is still a puppy though so we still have to hide socks, retrieve stolen trainers and remind her that the wood basket isn't actually her toy box!) I would highly recommend dog/puppy training with Caroline; my son is now doing "Trick Training" with our dog - another of Caroline's courses. Keeps both my son and puppy amused!!”
