We are a professional Dog Training and Behavioural Company that is based in Newton Abbot, Covering Torquay, Paignton, Exeter and South Devon. We are dedicated to providing a safe, fun, Positive and supportive environment to enhance the quality and build a bond between you and your dog. Our training focuses on giving you the skills to train your dog to develop good, acceptable, sociable behaviour and we use ONLY Positive Reward Based Training methods to achieve this. We are Kennel Club assessed/listed to provide The Good Citizens Dog Scheme, fully insured and come veterinary recommended.

Sensible Dogs is a family run business that caters for a number of different canine services. Our aim is to provide a service that enhances you and your dogs relationship, educating both dog and owner, and ensuring a happy, balanced relationship between the two. Sensible Dogs are:

Lynsey started working with dogs at the young age of 13 yrs old, cycling the two miles to the newly opened Animals in Distress to volunteer. She later left school and worked within a local kennels for a number of years, before setting up Sensible Dogs. Lynsey has work closely with a number of rescue centres, (Many Tears Animal Resuce, British Dalmation Welfare), to foster, re-hab and re-home many of her canine friends. Her love, understanding and knowledge of dogs is what makes her special and stand out from other trainers and behaviourists. She has owned many resuce dogs and at present has 5 dogs, 4 of which are rescues.

Good Citizens Puppy Foundation Classes
The aim of the course is to promote a good, sound, basis for you and your puppy's relationship to blossom, whilst acheiving a positive, fun, learning enviroment.

The Kennel Club's Good Citizens Dog Training Scheme
The Good Citizens Dog Scheme was set out in 1992 to maintain and acheive a set standard for training, obedience and knowledge across the UK. It was started by The Kennel Club and has now grown into the largest training scheme run this country.
 
We run Puppy foundation classes and offer Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.

Dog Training
One-to-one training is for the dog that has basic training but is experiencing minor problems with certain aspects and dog/owner may not be comfortalble or it may not be suitable to carry out training in a class situation.
Depending on the needs of the dog, training will be either in a home enviroment or in our field, and last on average about 2 hours.

Typical problems encountered are:
Basic Commands - Recall - Walking on a loose lead - Greeting guests
Understanding your dogs body language - House manners - Aggression
 
Behavioural Consultation
Book in for a behavioural consultation with Lynsey, who is a qualified behaviourist, (Dip CDB Dist, working towards KCAI via the Kennel Club) and comes with years of experience. Lynsey adheres to the CAWC code of practice and uses only positive, reward based training techniques

Lynsey studied under the renowned Peter Lewis and a completed a Diploma with Distinctions in Changing Dog Behaviour
She is also a member of the Kennel Club and is working towards KCAI Accreditation
