Collar and Cuffs - Dog Grooming Service in Wickford, Essex

My name is Lisa and I live with my partner and two sons on Wick Meadows in Wickford, Essex. I have lived in Wickford for most of my life and have had the pleasure of living with a variety of different breeds of dog and other animals. I am currently the owner of a young, very mischievous but loveable Cockerpoo named Logan.

In 2016 I undertook to study the City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming. With this in mind I set about finding a reputable training centre which allowed me to train on my days off from work. I enrolled with Dee for Dogs in Hullbridge, Essex which is an approved City & Guilds Training Centre owned and run by Denise Westbrook L.C.G.I G.M.G. Denise is a member of the Guild of Master Groomers and holds a Level 4 qualification in adult teaching and a City & Guilds Assessors qualification. I am confident when I say I was taught by one of the best in the business.

In December 2016 I am proud to say I attained my City And a Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.

My goal now is to set up my own dog grooming business working from a purpose built salon courtesy of my partner, at my home address. I am ready to embark on a new challenge swapping the demanding humans of Essex for the canine rogues of the Wick Meadows and surrounding areas. Hoping to be loved rather than loathed. I offer a friendly and professional grooming service and provide advice on how to care for your faithful friend. I hope to establish a client base that will allow me to retire from my current place of work and concentrate full time on dog grooming.

Here at Collar and Cuffs your dog is very important to me. Every effort will be made to ensure that your dog’s visit here is as pleasant and comfortable as possible. I offer a one to one service and there will be no other dogs waiting their turn in the salon. I will provide fresh water for your dog during their stay and ensure comfort breaks are taken when necessary.

For those customers less mobile, I can offer a local collection and return service for your dog if required. Please email me with your requirements and I will happily provide you with a price for this service.
Bath and blow dry: Your dog will be bathed in a shampoo appropriate to their coat. Any medicated prescription shampoos can be used in accordance with your vets instructions. Conditioners will be applied to those coats prone to tangling and matting. Your dog will then be hand blow dried, brushed and styled as appropriate.
Maintenance: Most coats require grooming every 6-8 weeks, however some benefit from a little maintenance in between times in order to keep the coat in tip top condition. A maintenance includes an ear clean, eye trim, foot trim, nail clip, followed by a bath and blow dry.

Full groom: I offer clipping, hand stripping, and scissored styling for your dogs. I will discuss your dogs styling requirements with you prior to any grooming, to ensure the desired style is achieved. A full groom will include an ear clean, hygiene clip, nail trim, bath and hand blow dry.
Ears, eyes and nails: Some dogs are prone to having hair at the entrance to their ear canal. It is therefore important to make sure that the ear canal is free from hair and debris which can encourage moisture and subsequent ear infections. By keeping the ear clean and dry, will allow the ear to breathe properly and prevent painful ear infections for your dog.
De-Shedding: This is for long and short haired breeds who do not require the usual type of grooming. This process removes the dead hair lying underneath the top coat. This allows the coat to breath and can help to reduce the amount of hair shed from the coat. This will be followed by a bath and hand blow dry.

Puppy Packages: Following their final vaccinations, puppies from the age of 13 weeks are welcome at Collar and Cuffs. My puppy packages are an introduction for your puppy into the grooming environment. The salon can be a somewhat daunting experience for puppies, with lots of strange noises and equipment to get used to. These packages are designed to ease your puppy in gently. A puppy package can include a nail trim, ear clean, bath, dry and groom of your choice.
