I am Nicky Visser, founder of Back to Basics Dog Training based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire since 2009. If you are looking for Fun, Game+ Reward -based Puppy & Dog Training, you have come to the right place.

I pride myself in giving puppies and dogs the opportunity to make the right decisions by setting them up for success. My love and experience with animals has taken me from Holland to the UK and as far as the beautiful Greek island, Santorini.

I worked with the local vet and the Santorini Animal Welfare Association (SAWA) for years. I rescued, socialised and trained wild, street and domestic dogs. No textbook or course can give you this kind of hands-on experience and I thoroughly loved my time there!

Initial assessment
We offer a 60 minutes visit in the comfort of your own home or if you prefer a different location.

We will be familiarising ourselves with your companion, i.e training, household, environment, excercise to name a few. We will discuss the struggles you feel are important and want clarification and help with.

From there we will then, step by step, examine the points raised and agree on how we are going to proceed. I will.provide and demonstrate how these hands on methods we offer can be used to teach your companion and from there enhance their development going forward.

Why an assessment?
An assessment is a good way of understanding what is required going forward and how we are going to accomplish the right training needed together.

What does Real-Life packages include?
We will go to lots of different locations, indoors, outdoors, with other dogs present.We will go for different walks when your pup/dog/rescue is ready to embrace these experiences.We have fully enclosed to practice off-lead and focus training games to help you both gain the confidence that you can do this by yourself.We will work on environmental socialisation, impulse control, recall, loose lead walking, focus and lots of games which will help with bonding so you will have a pawsome relationship.
