Behavioural Consultations
Have you ever wondered 'why does my dog do that'?
Is your dog causing you problems?
Are you unable to attend the local puppy or dog group training class?
1-2-1 Training sessions & Dog Behavioural Consultation
Leading Paws offers behavioural consultations and 1-2-1 training sessions to help with everything from basic training for your new puppy, to helping with more difficult issues that are causing you problems. We only use positive, reward-based training methods and want to be able to help you by not only fixing the problem but also to help you to understand why the problem is happening and how your dog is feeling. Our trainer has studied with the Institute of Modern Dog Training, tv dog trainer Steve Mann and is also undergoing Sarah Whitehead's 'Think Dog' courses. Leading Paws is able to give you the help and advice you need to solve your doggie dilemmas.
Puppy Classes
When getting a new puppy it is important that they learn not only how to behave but also how to be around and communicate with other puppies and dogs.Leading Paws Puppy Classes will help you give your puppy the best start in life by teaching them not only basic commands, but also socialisation and other life skills that will help them in the future.
We also believe it's very important to make the classes FUN: the happier your puppy is in the class and the more fun you are having together - the more you will both learn!
Classes are run in 8 week courses and unlike some puppy training schools, continue for 16 weeks:-
Puppy One:For puppies aged 12-14 weeks (or one week after second injection has been given if younger than 12 weeks).
Puppy Two:A follow-on course from Puppy One - allowing your puppy to continue learning in a safe and fun environment.
Classes are held on Friday evenings between 4:45pm and 6:45pm at:
West Malling Village Hall, Norman Road, West Malling, Kent, ME19 6RW
Group Classes
Just because your dog is not a puppy anymore doesn't mean that he or she shouldn't carry on learning!Leading Paws holds weekly classes for dogs over 6 months old to have fun and continue their training.
From dogs that missed out on puppy training to dogs that just like to have fun and keep learning, the Leading Paws Training Academy has a class that will give your dog the mental exercise that it needs!
Classes are held at the fabulous Squirrells Riding School in Maidstone where we are lucky enough to have access to an indoor riding school for those cold winter evenings and a spacious field for warm summer nights, both allowing dogs plenty of room to learn and have fun.
Classes are held on a Monday evening from 7pm at:
Squirrells Riding School, Common Road, Bluebell Hill, Maidstone, Kent, ME5 9RG
Dog Walking
Going out for a walk is what dogs live for but it is also extremely important for their health and well being, both mentally and physically. With todays fast paced lives we are all cramming more and more into every day, so why not let Leading Paws look after your furry friends walking needs.
We provide a range of different walking options; these include:
Single dog walks - for dogs that need 1-2-1 attention or don't like other dogs
Single household walks - for 2-4 dogs from the same house
Training walks - for dogs that need some on or off the lead training
Group walks - for dogs that like to be around other dogs and have fun playing
30 minute walks - for older or injured dogs that can't walk too far
Once your dog is back home Leading Paws will make sure that your dog is clean and content and also make sure clean water is available and food, if required.
Walks begin from the time that we arrive at the park so your dog will receive its full hour at the park and not lose any of their 'fun' time in travelling.
Social Dog Walks
Once a month Leading Paws invites dog owners to join us on a social walk with their furry friends. These walks are designed to help dog owners and their dogs socialise with other like minded owners and participate in basic training and socialisation.
Whether your dog is a little unsure of other dogs and you would like to build their confidence or you have a dog that wants to play too much, advice and knowledge is given while you and your dog learn from Leading Paws and the others around you. Locations of social walks vary each month to get you and your dog out and about into different environments.
They are a great way for both you and your dog to learn whilst having fun and making friends.
Puppy Visits
When getting a new puppy one of the worries is how you are going to be home regularly to toilet train and feed them and make sure that they are not up to mischief.
If you are working or are out during the day then this can be a problem. Leading Paws can help with this. We will visit your home and make sure that everything is taken care of so when you come home you have a happy puppy.
Pet Taxi
Leading Paws is pleased to offer a pet taxi service. Whether you struggle to find a 'pet-friendly' taxi company or your pet needs dropping at or picking up from a vets during working hours, Leading Paws is here to help. We are happy to help with all kinds of animals from dogs and cats to rabbits and other small furries or even some of the less furry friends. If needed we can attend the vet appointment for you or just drop and collect your pet as required.
