The Abbeville
Dog friendly pub in Clapham

The Abbeville - Dog Friendly Pub in Clapham, London

The rustic yet refined Abbeville lies at the heart of charming Abbeville Road in Clapham. The Abbeville is a proper neighbourhood pub offering modern British cooking, two individual bar areas and welcoming, warm surroundings where you can relax and unwind all year round.

In winter, the open fire and cosy nooks provide a welcoming place to while away the evenings and in summer the front doors of the pub open out to provide a lovely setting for summer drinking and dining.

We are fortunate to have our own farm in Hampshire providing us with wonderful free-range chicken, pork and lamb. Our fish is sustainably sourced from English day boats on the south coast and we age our beef in house. We have a good range of cask ales and lagers and are proud of our wine list which offers great wines at very reasonable prices.

The Terrace
The whole of The Abbeville’s frontage opens up in the summer, making the pub wonderfully light and airy.

Outside, numerous tables create a lovely al fresco space for drinking and dining. It’s a pretty idyllic leafy London scene populated by a diverse crowd of regulars.

Our Food
At The Abbeville we offer fresh, rustic and seasonal pub dining with daily changing specials and a separate lunch and dinner menu, all courtesy of head chef Michael Holland.

Typical dishes on the menu include saffron risotto with seared scallops, or a seafood tasting platter. For your main course tuck into the likes of salad of char-grilled marinated lamb rump, cherry tomatoes and salted ricotta over rocket, or whole plaice grilled with lemon butter. For those with a sweet tooth succumb to banoffee pie or a ginger pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.

Be prepared to book early to guarantee a table on Sunday. The Abbeville’s traditional roasts served with all the trimmings, including the crispiest roast potatoes in town, are a real hit with the regulars.

“"It's hard to go wrong with the food - the meals are what you'd expect from a great British gastropub. Dishes which come highly reccomended are the fish (which is locally sourced) and the juicy beef. Some people gripe about the 12.5 per cent service charge but in my opinion is worth every penny. Not only the staff are friendly, very knowledgeable about the food and have a demeanour so relaxed it'll invitably rub off on you and your date "”
