The Stonhouse
Dog friendly pub in Clapham

The Stonhouse - Dog Friendly Pub in Clapham, London

The Stonhouse is off the beaten track, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Clapham High Street.

A light and airy pub and garden with a modern European brasserie style menu famous for mouthwatering steaks (aged in-house) and a superb wine list.

We are fortunate to have our own farm in Hampshire providing us with wonderful free-range chicken, pork and lamb. Our fish is sustainably sourced from English day boats on the south coast and we age our steaks in house. We have a good range of cask ales and lagers and are proud of our wine list which offers great wines at very reasonable prices.

Dining Room
At The Stonhouse, we offer daily changing specials and a menu which evolves over the course of the day, crafted by our Head Chef Pawel Zygmunt. Kickstart your weekend with our sublime brunch. Ease in with eggs benedict or go all-out with our famous 'seven deadly sins' - full English breakfast.

Lunchtime promises hearty sandwiches, authentic burgers and healthy salads. Typical dishes on the dinner and weekend menu include roasted beetroot & Rosary Ash goat's cheese with honey dressing, or hot smoked sea trout & courgette salad to start. For your main course, tuck in to the grilled springbok, butterflied leg of lamb & feta salad, or seared Shetland scallops. For dessert, indulge in a Valrhona Chocolate & Amaretto terrine, or rhubarb pannacotta.

The Bar
The handsome central bar ensures a warm welcome and some familiar faces on arrival. Relax in the lounge area opposite the bar, find a table by the fire at the rear or go through to the secluded garden.

The reasonably-priced and diverse wine list showcases an impressive range of hard-to-find wines – regardless of origin. Our most popular ale, Timothy Taylor, is always within easy reach and is complemented by a regularly changing choice of guest ales and draught beers. We also offer some of the finest cocktails this side of the river – go upscale with our champagne cocktails, long with a Long Island Iced Tea, short and sweet with a Lemon Drop or keep the right side of the tracks with our alcohol-free mocktails.

If you’re feeling peckish you can accompany drinks with a range of bar snacks and antipasti.

Dogs welcome

The Garden
Our south facing garden is a haven of tranquility minutes from the High Street.

The lack of road noise, large raised flower beds and beautiful sycamore tree make it a perfect spot for a quiet pint or glass of wine with friends. A huge heated umbrella provides shelter whatever the weather, and waitress service and handsome teak furniture mean its ideal for al fresco dining when the weather allows.

“Excellent cask-conditioned ales in tip-top condition... fresh and good quality... simple, honest food”

- Time Out

“Nicely restored interior and an appealing menu packed with homely favourites”

- Squaremeal

“"The staff are friendly and attentive, the cooking is spot on and the prices are reasonable"”

- South London Press

“One of a small group of carefully selected restaurants in London that seem to be hitting the right note... a menu that has something for everyone. The Stonhouse is a place for hearty eating, well supported by a list of cocktails that will set the world to rights. The wine list contains an excellent choice with a good selection by the glass, and prices that will not deter you from that second bottle.”

“The staff were very friendly and looked after us well. I had a delicious manuka salmon pate to start, and cornish crab cakes, which were very fresh and surprisingly light. I had a fantastic steak (perfectly cooked and tender) and my girlfriend had the mussels, which she seemed very happy about! There's a good wine list - I recognised a couple of wines from another gastropub I go to a fair bit, and the prices here were cheaper. All in all, an excellent evening.”
