The Office Dog - Dog Trainer In Hammersmith, London
The idea for The Office Dog was born in 2016 when CEO, Sharon Jennings, was training to become a VSA Certified dog trainer, and while working her old job in a London office, realised how chaotic and unsafe a poorly planned ‘Bring your dog to work day’ could be…
After qualifying, and starting to work with clients, she realised there was a bigger issue than just offices – we expect our dogs to ‘behave’ in many different environments and scenarios, especially when living in London and other major cities; cafes, pubs, parks, markets, buses, trains.
The Office Dog is about helping our dogs to thrive in the modern city lifestyle that we have thrown them into, through fun and non-judgemental games, training and conversations.
Puppy & Me 4 week training
Puppy and Me goes beyond the normal puppy training, which tends to just teach a succession of ‘tricks’, and that’s it. You end up with a dog that can perform well during formal training sessions, but acts up outside of those times.
We will cover the basic skills such as sit, lie down etc but we go a step further than this. The Office Dog will introduce you to training games that will make your dog want to be near you (a crucial first step for both leash walking and recall), and also how to chill out and relax on his mat – teaching calmness in a dog is a highly underrated training technique. We will cover life skills such as the handling that will be required when visiting a vet or a groomer and being able to have a harness or muzzle put on.
We want you to understand your dog and to build a strong relationship, based on mutual trust and respect. We want you to feel prepared and able to tackle all the challenges that life will throw at you long after these training sessions have finished.
Puppy's First Walk
A puppy’s first walk should be an exciting and positive experience.
Unfortunately, some new dog owners don’t realise how important this is, and in failing to prepare properly, both for themselves and their pup, start off on the wrong foot. This results in nightmare walks, their dog always pulling and and not paying attention.
The Office Dog can help you ensure that walks with your pup will always be a joy in your years ahead.
Loose Lead Walking
We all want a dog that walks nicely with us, without pulling our arm out of the socket, or needing to be dragged along.
Some dogs are focused on their owner, some focused on their environment. This is NOT a dog being ‘good’ or being ‘bad’. You just need to pull focus in to you. Our class starts off teaching you some exercises that you can practice with your dog to increase his focus on you. You will then move outside to start walking exercises.
You will receive notes on topics such as canine body language, house-training, socialisation, diet and unwanted chewing, which can then be discussed with your trainer.
