Cathy's Creations - Pet and Animal Portrait ArtistThe first step in the process of creating a coloured pencil drawing of your pet is to choose your photo.
This is the most important part, as the better the photo, the better the finished portrait will be.
You may find it helpful to read through my photo tips.
We will be able to choose a suitable photo and decide on the size and type of paper to use. All of my portraits are just of a pet's head and shoulders. I use a range of different papers and boards from size 10” x 8” up to 13.75” x 9.75” in a range of colours to choose from or I can draw any shade for the background. I will recommend which paper I think would suit your chosen portrait however I will gladly try to accommodate personal preferences.
I charge £160 per coloured pencil pet portrait regardless of materials selected. I prefer not to draw multiple pets on one page, as drawing smaller portraits reduces the amount of detail achievable. The price per pet is still £150 even if you would like them drawn in one picture.
Your portrait wil be made available as prints. You may want to purchase copies of your beloved pet portrait to give as gifts to friends and family. If you inform me that you would like prints along with your original drawing, it will save you extra postage and packaging charges.
All of my drawings will also be made available on a wide range of gifts from clothing and home decor to phone/device cases and cups. Take a look at the unique presents on offer at www.redbubble.com.
As a child I absolutely loved creating art and although I was successful at gaining a place at Art college, I felt pressurised into getting a conventional job and have spent over three decades too busy to pick up a paint brush or pencil.
When stress at work started to effect my health, I picked up pencils again to help me to relax. With a lot of encouragement from friends and family I have taken the leap of faith to leave my job and to pursue my childhood dream of being an artist.
I have always admired all of creation and love to spend time outside with my pet dogs and like to wonder at all the beauty that surrounds us. Initially I captured such beauty with my camera but now like to recreate the beauty using coloured pencils.
I love trying to recreate an array of colour and detail so use high quality artists pencils & pastels and use a technique of building up many layers. It gives me great satisfaction when I manage to capture that glint in an animals eye.

“Cathy was absolutely wonderful to work with, and her portrait of Arya is absolutely stunning! I ordered it as a Christmas gift for my partner, and he adored it. I'm also thrilled to see that now her image is available to be put on various things! Wonderful experience from the beginning of the order all the way through to the follow up. Highly recommend Cathy not just for her amazing skills, but for her wonderful personality.”
“I’ve wanted my dogs portrait done for a few years but have not found anyone that could capture her personality. Cathy has not only managed to capture her personality but also her very soul. It has been a real pleasure getting to know Cathy, I cannot recommend her highly enough.”
