Led by Canine Behaviourist Emily Gill MA CFBA CIDBT H.Cert MGoDT (MPDTI), Perfect Dog Training delivers professional, science-based guidance tailored to the needs of each individual dog. With a compassionate approach and proven results, Emily’s goal is to help owners understand their dogs and build long-lasting trust and communication.

Emily believes that training success begins when a dog realises they can trust you. Her mission is to equip owners with the knowledge and confidence they need to enrich their relationship with their dog. Many owners come to Perfect Dog Training after feeling confused by conflicting advice, and leave feeling empowered with clear, practical strategies that truly work.

Training classes are at the heart of Perfect Dog Training. Group classes and bespoke workshops cater for all levels and goals, from first-time puppy owners to experienced handlers. The Perfect Dog Training Obedience Scheme progresses through four stages — Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold — each designed to guide dogs toward becoming calm, well-mannered family companions. Certificates and rosettes are awarded at every level, and the scheme is proudly sponsored by Skinner’s Field & Trial and Anglian Dog Works.

Workshops address common challenges such as loose-lead walking, recall and impulse control. For those seeking more focused learning, Emily also offers 121 Fulfilment & Enrichment Sessions in scentwork, trick training, agility and advanced obedience skills. Each 30-minute session is customised to your dog and includes WhatsApp feedback between appointments, ensuring continuous support throughout the training journey.

For more complex issues, 121 Training & Behaviour Support sessions tackle behavioural concerns including aggression, anxiety, resource guarding, reactivity, excessive barking, recall problems and hyperactivity. Every consultation includes an in-depth discussion, assessment, tailored plan and one-month WhatsApp support with feedback on training videos. As a member of the CFBA, Emily’s behaviour consultations are accepted by many insurers (with vet referral if required).

Perfect Dog Training is vet-recommended and trusted by local practices. Emily holds regular behaviour clinics at a veterinary practice in Chepstow to ensure all advice supports each dog’s health and wellbeing. With over a decade of experience working with a variety of breeds, she brings both professional knowledge and practical understanding to every session.

Emily’s background includes training and competing in agility from a young age, raising guide-dog puppies, and working with therapy, assistance and diabetes detection dogs. She has also trained champions in the show ring and qualified as a Kennel Club & FCI Agility Judge. Her teaching extends to schools, where she inspires the next generation through young-handler training, helping children safely build confidence and connection with their dogs.

Formal qualifications include CFBA membership (PETbc – accepted by insurers), CIDBT Higher Certificate in Canine Professional Practice & Aggression Studies, CIDBT Advanced Dog on Dog Aggression, CIDBT Advanced Dog on Person Aggression, GoDT Master Dog Trainer & Young Dog Trainer Ambassador, Level 3 Diploma in Canine Nutrition and certification from the Kennel Club in behaviour, welfare and training. Every aspect of her work aligns with animal-welfare best practice and positive reinforcement principles.
