Norfolk is a very dog friendly county. Lots of open spaces, easy walking, very quiet sandy beaches with few restrictions and very little in the way of livestock.

“We have just had an extremely relaxing week at The Crib in Happisburgh. It’s comfortable, cosy and has everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. It’s very dog friendly with beds, throws and bowl stands all provided. The owners are very responsive to messages and made the holiday more enjoyable as we knew we could contact them with any issues. We took our XL bully on holiday with us and the house and garden were very secure, allowing us to relax, knowing he was safe. We came back and have immediately booked for next year! ”

- Jane Shaylor

“We have just spent a fantastic week at Peanut Cottage. It is a beautifully presented cottage which welcomes dogs and has a hot tub and a dog paddock - what more do you need? Highly recommended. ”

- Jen Bradbury

“Three generations of us stayed in Thatch Cottage at Hempstead and it was just perfect for all of us and our two dogs. It is a beautiful, homely cottage fitted out with everything and more that you could possibly use. The lovely large secure garden is perfect for dogs and children to play in and old ones for relaxing in. Lots of lovely sandy beaches too, the nearest Cart Gap Beach was easily accessible one mile away down a lovely straight grassy track opposite the cottage to the sea which was just wonderful for the dogs daily walks. There are lots of lovely cafes and pubs, all dog friendly, and every one worth a visit. Thatch Cottage is not far from the Norfolk Broads with plenty of places to hire a cruiser and just wonderful countryside for dog walks. Cannot recommend Thatch Cottage at Hempstead highly enough. ”

“The Lodge. Cozy 2 person lodge which cannot be faulted. Quiet area for reactive dogs, but plenty of walks including the Weavers Way. Lovely jams for sale in the village! ”

“We have just returned from a fab holiday at White Cottage in Happisburgh, booked through ERC. Six beaches, four great eateries and a wood were enjoyed during our stay. The cottage was huge. It was comfy and well equipped. We are regular users of ERC, and have been for about 15 years. They are very friendly and efficient. 11/10. ”

- John Bobin

“Just had a fabulous week at Rose Cottage. Beautiful cottage, which was so warm and welcoming. It was a last-minute booking as I am a carer, and my brother looked after my Dad whilst we had a much needed break with Mabel. Anne and Gary left the most amazing welcome pack, which included wine, chocolates, flowers, and coffee beans. In the cottage, there were so many dog supplies that could be used during the stay. We had some amazing walks on the local beach, which is literally just across the road as well as Happisburgh and Holkham beaches. Bacton Woods is a short drive and is a beautiful dog walk. The steam train to Sheringham is also a must. Lots of local pubs which are all very dog friendly. Highly recommend East Ruston cottages they were a delight to deal with. We will definitely use again. ”

- Samantha Scullion

“Just back from Sea View Cottage. Beautiful cosy place. Lovely size rooms - great totally secure garden, everything you need there & more. 2 minute walk down private track to miles of beach. Very relaxing but also great for doggie walks. Definitely will be returning, highly recommend. ”

- Nicole Stanley

“We stayed at Boundary Lodge and can totally recommend. It is situated in a quiet rural location but not far from the town of Stalham and local beaches or woods. Very comfortable, cosy, peaceful, clean and well equipped. Lovely secure garden for the dogs. Absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely come back!! ”

- Brenda Greaves

“Rooster Barn is a lovely property and very dog friendly. Our eight dogs had plenty of room both inside the property and outside in the garden. A very generous welcome pack for both ourselves and the dogs was awaiting our arrival.”

- Gill Simmons

“Spent ideal week in Spinney Lodge Hickling. Such a perfect dog/ human holiday as you don’t have to go far as you have a fantastic woodland as well as garden attached to a perfect cottage. We were so lucky with the weather for Early March as better than home! We are determined to go to this cottage again in summer as woodland will be perfect with its trees and places to sit in shade and look at the rabbits/ deer/ foxes passing through. Another win for ERC holidays ”

- June Sparrow

“The team at East Ruston take the stress out of finding dog welcoming holiday accommodation. It is so much nicer to book through a company who have hand picked lovely places with owners who genuinely want visitors with dogs to feel at ease. I just wish they covered more of the UK!”

- Meg Haver

“East Ruston cottages are the most dog friendly company I have used. I have used them at least 8 times now. You read many cottages saying dog friendly and when you get there you find signs saying no dogs on furniture no dogs in bedrooms. Do not leave dogs unattended in cottage then you also have to pay a premium for even taking a dog. With east Ruston you can take unlimited dogs at no extra cost. They are allowed on furniture and beds but ask to take your own bedding if you let them on beds. Which is what we would do anyway. They leave throws dog bowls beds and even crates and pushchairs if you request them. They always leave doggy treats on arrival for your fur babies to. Everything is geared up around the dogs. They even allow well behaved humans to come along with the dogs. They have won the dog friendly awards for four years running this really is no surprise and I will be shocked if they don’t win for a fifth year. I have had many dog holidays over the years and nobody comes close to east Ruston cottages. The cottages I have been to with them have all been so good. And they are all so dog friendly. I highly recommend this company if you want to enjoy a wonderful holiday with your dog. ”

- Debbie Pauley

“Bumble bee cottage, Willow Farm cottages in Happisburgh Common. Beautifully presented little cottage in a lovely quiet location. The most dog friendly place we have ever been to. Perfect for our two week holiday with our two dogs. One had a spinal injury in the summer and drags one back leg so having the large dog paddock right next to the cottage was great for her. Can't recommend this place enough. Already planning our next visit.”

- Debbie Frost

“A fantastic company - great customer service and sooo dog friendly Have now stayed in Bristows Barn and Vineyard Cottage - both lovely properties. Thoroughly recommended. ”

- Jen

“Stayed at Hidden Gem… and it was as good as its name suggests! A wonderful location with excellent access to the dunes and beach. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped and welcoming for pawrents and doggies… would recommended this for humans with or without dogs to enjoy the beauty of the area. Cottage is cosy, maintained to a high standard, clean and lots of thought put into making it a home from home for dogs. We would definitely return here and have already been checking out the other places on the website. ”

- Sabina Rashid

“Have just returned from a weekend break in Eccles to get our dogs away from the fireworks. This is our third stay through ERC this year, and we have already booked three breaks for 2024. Can't fault the quality of accommodation and the detail to attention for provision of a dog friendly environment. We have now had 11 years of holidaying with dogs and this is by far the best holiday company we have used.”

- Christopher Moore

“These guys never disappoint. The dogs really do come first. So far we have stayed at three different properties and are booked for our fourth. It’s a long way for us to come but it really is worth it. ”

- Jane Russell

“Just spent the week at Bristows Barn - so dog friendly and a lovely property. Thoroughly recommend. ”

- Jen

“A truly brilliant dog savvy, dog friendly cottage… beds, bowls, throws provided… well equipped, very little needed to enjoy a fantabulous holiday …can’t wait to return”

- Simon Redhead

“Just had a fabulous few days at Winterton. Very dog friendly - lots of space on the beach and dunes and the local pub welcoming of all dog breeds. Can't wait to book again soon! I highly recommend. ”

- Danni Wells

“Another fantastic stay with ERC in the wonderful dog friendly county of Norfolk. Our cottage was a perfect base to see all that Norfolk has to offer. Deepdale is literally just 5 mins walk to the beach and all the amenities available and just a short drive to other local attractions. The cottage has a fantastic conservatory that we enjoyed relaxing in and the dog could wander off into the enclosed garden whenever he pleased- especially to see the chickens. Warning the Cockrel next door does like to tune up before his early morning call! There is a wealth of shops/pubs/cafes that are all dog friendly in this area and Sea Palling beach is fantastic for dogs. We have stayed with ERC a few times and it has never failed to disappoint, Sue and her team are always on hand to sort out any issues no matter how small. A truly wonderful stay and a fantastic relaxing holiday. We will be back.”

- Carl Bunting

“We have just returned from yet another holiday booked through ERC. Sue Allen, the boss of ERC, seems like an old friend, as we have been on lots of holidays with her help. We have always had fab cottages, which are extremely dog friendly. Customer service supplied by ERC is unsurpassed. The cottages are spotlessly clean, very well-equipped and nicely situated. What more could you ask for?”

- John Bobin

“We had the most fantastic 3 night stay at Manor Barn, thanks to East Ruston Cottages. The property, outside space and location completely exceeded our expectations. Tracey and Dan had carefully thought of every detail throughout the barn to ensure our stay felt special. The property was absolutely spotless, with luxurious furnishings, a fabulously equipped kitchen and wonderful welcome pack with goodies to enjoy. We even received a hand written card to welcome us which was a lovely gesture. The property does not compromise on luxury despite being super dog friendly. And our dog enjoyed her own complimentary treats, blankets and towels as well as a lovely secure garden to call her own. This is a gem of a property, set in a beautiful part of Norfolk and hosted by people who do everything to help you have a wonderful holiday! A huge thanks to our hosts, Tracy and Dan and also to East Ruston Cottages!”

- Kim Ingleheart

“After a long time looking for a mini break with my dog I finally settled on Sand Drift a property run by ERC. I particularly wanted to be right on the beach, a quiet destination and a very secure garden. This destination delivered on all fronts. The accommodation was very well designed and comfortable with with no amenity overlooked. As well as all the usual creature comforts that one would expect at home there were the delightful additions of both human and canine treats not to mention a few basic staples to start the week off. More books than you can shake a stick at, plus DVDs, puzzles and games for the indoors and, if wanted/needed temporary dog tags, poo bags, canine and human first aid kits, buckets and spades, chairs, windbreaks etc etc etc. I never heard or saw the neighbours; the only caveat I would mention is that the front garden is perhaps only suitable for small dogs or very benign, non reactive and non jumpers as the fence line varies being as low as 43 inches at one point which meant we were confined to the back garden. However this did not detract from our experience”

- Allyson Tohme

“Rose Cottage in Walcott - fabulous!! Would definitely return - soooo close to an amazing beach, fantastic & thoughtful welcome hamper, amazingly dog friendly with everything & more to make the stay with dogs a hands-down amazing experience! There aren't enough superlatives to do it justice. East Ruston Cottages made booking so easy & made sure everything was as it should be.”

- Adrienne

“We have just had our third stay at Eidelweis, Happisburgh. Delightful, well equipped annexe which the dogs love. Wonderful location near some stunning beaches. I cannot recommend East Ruston Cottages enough from the initial booking to all the pre holiday communication. ”

- Katrina Wade

“We stayed at Thatch Cottage, 5 adults and 4 dogs. The cottage was fab, very dog friendly and well equipped. Booking was straightforward, we received really useful information from East Ruston and the cottage owners. We’d definitely recommend the company and the cottage. ”

- Lynn

“Just returned home from 4 nights at Vineyard Cottage. 2 of us with our 2 dogs in a peaceful location, well appointed for the many dog friendly beaches or The Broads. Cottage is well equipped and there is a Tescos in Stalham for stocking up. East Ruston Cottages Ltd made the booking process easy and we had regular e mails from them. Would definitely use them again to book a getaway in Norfolk.”

- Liz Allum

“We had a lovely family Easter break with the dogs at Misty Meadow. Welcome pack was so lovely & very appreciated by humans & dogs! The property was beautiful & just perfect for our break. Everyone was so helpful with questions before we went away. Can’t recommend them enough!”

- Jessica House

“We've just returned from a great week away booked via East Ruston Cottages. Ollands farm barn in Happisburgh is clean, cosy & comfortable & had everything we needed (even providing an XL crate for doggie) & is in the most peaceful location. The garden & courtyard are completely enclosed & secure. The owners were friendly but discrete & left a welcome basket full of local goodies. The dog biscuits were a huge hit. An easy drive to dog friendly beaches at Cart Gap, Eccles, Sea Palling & more. Loads of great walks for us & the dog.”

- Christine Owens

“Just back from a fabulous week staying in White Cottage, Happisburgh. Human and doggy needs all catered for. Very comfortable cottage and an enclosed garden which was great for the dogs and from our perspective too. Beaches are dog friendly, Winterton-on-Sea beach went on for miles which the dogs loved. Cannot recommend highly enough. ”

- Maria Martin

“Just back from a holiday at The Lodge. This is a lovely single storey holiday cottage which is very dog friendly. Situated in the countryside but within easy travelling distance to the coast.”

- Angela Kendrick

“ERC are absolutely THE best, dog friendly is an understatement. We won't go anywhere else nothing is too much trouble, the properties are immaculate and have more than everything you'll need. The dogs really are provided well for and its all geared up to give them the best time. No silly rules when you arrive like other companies it's almost too good to be true until you see it for yourself. Our favourite Hidden Gem is wonderful, lots of thought gone into the property and it feels like home not a holiday cottage. The owners are wonderful too. Can't recommend ERC enough, if you love holidaying with your dogs then look no further.”

- Heidi Maahs

“We stayed at Badger’s Retreat in May 2023, with our two Boston Terriers. The cottage is lovely and well equipped, and the welcome pack was amazing. Terri and Richard were extremely welcoming and shared their local knowledge. The location is great, within easy reach of lots of coastal and broads tourist spots as well as some lesser known lovely areas. Will definitely be booking again. ”

- Julia Foster

“We have just had a fabulous week at Brian's Cottage which was perfect for two humans and two hounds. Garden security was the main factor in booking and it was spot on for our pair of Galgos. The cottage had everything you could need for humans and hounds and the lovely owners are unobtrusively on hand for any queries or just for a chat! There are lots of walks along footpaths, byways and quiet lanes from the door but it is also well placed for exploring further afield. Donut beds were ordered in advance which made the packing a lot easier. A homemade meal was also ordered in advance for the night of arrival which was a real treat. Goodies for humans and hounds were much appreciated. We liked it so much we've already booked for next year. It isn't hard to see why it is booked up so far in advance ;-)”

- Ergo

“Bristows Barn was the most amazing dog friendly place to stay and in a fantastic location. It had everything my friends and I, plus our dogs, could need for a wonderful holiday. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for luxury dog friendly accommodation within easy reach of beaches, woods and other attractions.”

- Sharon

“We stayed at Brian’s cottage. A real dog friendly cottage with treats for the hounds. The cottage is comfortable and we could relax with throws supplied and flooring suitable for dogs. The fruit cake and home made bread was a real treat. The garden is completely secure with high fences ideal for two greyhounds. We came for my birthday and the only negative when I looked to book the same week next year it is already booked!! Definitely be back ”

- Heather whiting

“We stayed at Farthing Cottage: This was our first time away with our young dog and was quite nervous about taking him into somebody else's property (think sea, sand, mud, hair) but Farthing cottage was perfect for him and us. They had thought of everything and more to make our stay perfect - tiled, underfloor heated floors throughout the ground floor, throws and dog towels provided, grooming kits and a dog dryer, dog crates in all sizes, bowls and dog beds to name a few. The beds were so comfortable and everything was exceptionally clean. We even had an amazing gift hamper on arrival for both humans and dogs. There was also milk and butter in the fridge and tea and coffee available - very welcome after a long drive. The service from Sue at East Ruston Cottages was second to none and we really can't find anything that East Ruston Cottages or Farthing cottage could do better ( well maybe a hidey hole for shoes - if you have a spaniel you will understand!!) I would and will 100% recommend Farthing Cottage as a human friendly dog cottage. We will definitely be back.”

- Debs

“Highly recommend Sue & the team at East Rushton Cottages. So easy to book with, the accomodation we chose was exactly as described and suited us perfectly. Their local knowledge made our short stay so worthwhile. Manor Barn, Happisburgh, was 5*, characterful and quality through and through. Tracey has created a luxurious, stylish, dog friendly retreat. Her extra touches - the generous welcome pack, a superbly equipped kitchen, bathroom toiletries, gorgeous linens and throws - truly elevate this property above a regular holiday cottage, let alone one that welcomes doggies. Our 3 wanted for nothing with a secure grass area, treats, bowls, toys and blankets a plenty...and so close to so many wonderful beaches. Highly recommend.”

- Melanie Arnold

“ERC are just the best. We're staying at Rooster Barn again. So clean and dog friendly. Our new rescue staffie settled in very quickly and allowed us to sleep all night every night, which she doesn't at home! Wood burner and underfloor heating are brilliant, but it does mean you may find your dog lying in strange places. It's just that they have worked out where the warm pipes are. We've now moved permanently to Norfolk but we still intend on staying in ERC properties! Brilliant people to book with.”

- Julie Sansom

“I wish I could give more than 5*. Very peaceful cottage in a beautiful area. Gorgeous walk from the door or the beach is just 10 minute drive away. Cottage owners were really lovely people and added lots of extra touches to make the stay perfect. The dogs had everything they could possibly need and more. Extremely dog friendly cottage and area. Can’t wait to go back!”

- Michelle G

“East Ruston Cottages do it for us – again. Sean and I pulled up outside Brian’s Cottage whilst the sunset was setting the Norfolk countryside alight with yellows, golds, and reds. So, this was Brian’s Cottage. One of East Ruston Cottages’ flagship lets. We felt so privileged to be entering a man’s property when he was no longer living there, but as we got out of the car, Liz came to welcome us and when the introductions had taken place, it was as though we had known her all our lives. She then took us inside the cottage which was to be our home for the next few days. Brian’s Cottage was built in the 1930s and we were struck immediately by the care and attention to detail that had gone into its restoration. Liz and Tim had faithfully adhered to everything that evoked that decade. The whole oeuvre was tasteful and extremely well-executed. An example of the lengths Liz would go to in recalling the 1930s was the microwave, the likes of which I had never seen before. In those days there wouldn’t have been any domestic microwaves, not even industrial strength models. The microwave standing on a worksurface in the kitchen looked like a 30’s TV. I can’t praise Liz and Tim enough for their vision and especially Liz’s eye for the period and her attention to detail – a real gift. To ensure we knew know how welcome we were, Liz had made an assortment of goodies. Bread to die for, a huge fruit cake, jam, marmalade, dog treats etc. All of which were delicious and moreish! Now, if you are thinking the humans are rather indulged, then this is what the dogs are given, ‘poor’ creatures!!! Their own comfortable beds, throws, a named gift bag with treats, cuddles, attention. Sean’s three-year-old cockerpoo, noisy, needy, high maintenance and adorable, thought she had found the Holy Grail the evening we invited Liz and Tim in for a drink. Liz sat and cuddled and stroked this little attention-seeking princess for the duration of the visit. We arrived home today, after saying our fond farewells to Liz, Tim, and Brian’s Cottage. We had a great time being spoilt, thanks to Liz and Tim, and if we were spoilt, the dogs were ruined!!! We are all looking forward to our next visit to Brian’s Cottage. Thank you for all you gave and did for us and the two dogs, Liz and Brian. We’ll be back! Thank you again to Georgina and Sue at East Ruston Cottages for the smooth booking process, excellent communication and having such beautiful properties available to rent. ”

- Susan Carberry

“Brian's Cottage is just perfect! The best place ever. (2 adults and 2 greyhounds - one fear reactive). I honestly don't know where to begin. First of all, the most welcoming, kind and incredibly thoughtful hosts. We were greeted with the most divine homemade fruit cake, brownies, freshly baked homemade bread, fresh local eggs, homemade jam, milk and butter and a Christmas gift. The dogs were just as spoilt, with bonios and two bags of local, natural home-made treats and a goodie tote filled with a treat carrier, poo bags and dispenser, wet wipes etc - everything you could need for walks! So much effort had gone in to it, it actually made my mum a bit emotional. Liz & Tim knew this was a much needed break for us after a tough year, and were just beyond kind. The cottage itself was spotless, cosy, homely and comfy (I wanted to steal the bed and bed linen!), with a beautiful secure garden out the back. As for facilities? I genuinely can't think of anything else they could provide. You name it - it was there! For the dogs there were beds of every size, bowls of every shape (including slow feeders), cooling mats, leads, harnesses, a special shower, all the towels, lifejackets! The list was endless - you couldn't think of one thing you'd need - better catered for than they are at home! The same goes for the humans - flasks, picnic sets, sandwich toasters, every type of utensil, pans, bowls - again, it's better equipped than my kitchen at home. They think of everything, and it was spotless. And if you go, do treat yourself to a dinner from Liz, we had the most amazing spag Bol with garlic bread and desert on our first night - not only freshly made and super tasty, presented with care too. We loved the location - we could walk the dogs literally out of the back gates (when they weren't zooming in the garden), and you're about 10-20 mins from everything from the local town, to beaches, the Broads and woodland walks. Having greyhounds, especially one being reactive, it was so important for us to be somewhere they could enjoy that was secure so we could relax too - and it was perfect. Great spot for some more steady walks too given my mum who came with me is in her 80's. You're surrounded by beautiful fields and woods and public footpaths. First time in Norfolk, and loved it as much as the cottage - we plan on becoming regulars!”

“We stayed at East Ruston's White Cottage in Happisburgh 3-10 Dec. Cracking place. Right from the start I was pleased with East Ruston's admin and information - and when we arrived the cottage excelled all expectations. Over the past 10 years we have stayed at LOTS of cottages but never has there been a more well equipped one, both for people and dogs alike. For the dogs: a beach just a stone's throw away; a great garden; HiK-9 beds; throws; Simple solution for accidents; several different sized bowls; are allowed throughout the house; doggie treats; crates; stair gates and plenty of coat hangers for leads/harnesses and our coats too. For the humans; apart from a lovely quaint 200yr cottage it was supplied with a brilliantly stocked kitchen and a tremendous amount of wood available for the wood-burner (so in a bitter December we were never cold). Both East Ruston Cottages Manager Sue and Louise, White Cottage's new owner, couldn't have been more accommodating. Would wholeheartedly recommend White Cottage.”

- Debbie Lister

“We have just enjoyed a lovely week with our cocker spaniel in Norfolk. The welcome pack for humans was great, and there was also one for our dog. Throws , bowls, leads provided and we were even told our dog could come on the bed if we brought our own linen. Large well fenced garden, and minutes from the beach. The property was well equipped and warm and cosy even though the weather was decidedly chilly.”

- Anne Langridge

“Just spent a lovely, peaceful week in the most dog friendly cottage we’ve ever stayed in… we found it via the Dog Friendly magazine, and, it really was. No charge for dogs, nothing warning them to stay off the furniture, lots of lovely dog treats and toys on arrival, and the enclosed courtyard and larger, secure paddock for exercise. Humans were well catered for too! The perfect base to explore North East Norfolk. ”

- Gillian Poole

“From the moment we opened the front gate until the last time we closed it, we were in our idea of a heavenly place. Absolutely stunning bungalow, immaculate, everything for happy humans and happy dogs. We took our 2 Springer spaniels Hope & Grace and our young Sprocker Harry, on a last minute break to Dormy. We felt like we had found something very special. It’s location meant we could walk the beautiful beach at Happisburgh without getting the car at all. The outside hot water shower made cleaning up sandy tired, but happy dogs that much easier. Good sized gardens front and back and secure meant the dogs could also play happily and safely whilst we watched on from the sunny patios. All the appliances were in perfect condition, the furnishings comfortable and in pristine condition. The view across open fields allowed us to view beautiful sunsets and fantastic night skies. We were truly sad to leave, never had a week pass so quickly. If you want an idyllic stay with your dogs in an idyllic bungalow, in a beautiful part of coastal Norfolk, Dormy is very difficult to beat. ”

- Dreams are made at Dormy

“We had a lovely weekend with our 4 dogs at Eidelweiss. Very friendly & welcoming. Lovely welcome package including a delicious cake. So great to find such a dog friendly cottage in a superb location.”

- Lucy Christie

“We have stayed at three of these cottages and they are gorgeous. They have all been very dog friendly. We have just stayed at White cottage at Happisburgh and it’s perfect. It’s homely and comfortable with a fully enclosed garden. The fences are high enough to deter our greyhounds and lurcher. There are no neighbours to irritate reactive dogs. The walks and beaches are beautiful and there are lots of lovely places to eat locally. ”

- Jane Shaylor

“We have just had a lovely week at Rooster Barn. It had everything that you need for both humans and doggies. There were walks around from the doorstep and not far from beach. Have walked various parts of Norfolk coastal walk. Thank you East Ruston and owners for making this place so special and making our stay like home from home. Will be booking again in the future. ”

- Sue

“We cannot recommend East Ruston Cottages enough. Having had a number of holidays in wonderful locations in Norfolk we have now found our perfect place. Rooster Barn is without a doubt the prettiest, best equipped, welcoming and comfortable holiday home. Full of character, great space for the dogs and outstanding accommodation for the humans with them. The location is perfect for a number of beaches, there are great places to eat and visit. We have already booked 3 more visits here for next year, including Christmas! Cannot wait...”

- Rita Lenko

“Yet another lovely week at Cornerways, the dogs love the beaches and so do we. The cabin is well situated for the beach and is so quiet and relaxing, throughly reccomend Cornerways and East Ruston Cottages .”

- Adrian Filipovitsch

“We stayed at Wagtail cottage in Ingram. It was a great stay, the cottage was really comfortable, very well equipped, spotlessly clean and very cozy. The two dogs settled straight away and everything they could have needed was provided in the house. Wagtail is in a great spot for exploring the surrounding coast, so we went to a different beach each day. There are also nice countryside walks straight form the house. All in all perfect, we would highly recommend. ”

- V Robles

“We’ve just returned from a fabulous two week stay in Skylark at Winterton-on-Sea. The chalet was perfect, as was the surrounding area, and we were just steps away from the Horsey and Winterton Dunes and beach. The accommodation was perfect for the two of us and our two bonkers lurchers and had everything we needed. As has been said numerous times before, this part of the world is extremely dog friendly and there was nowhere we couldn’t take them. Being so close to the Broads there’s so many beautiful places to visit and we were made very welcome on a Broads Tours boat trip. We would definitely recommend and would happily return if the journey from West Somerset was easier!”

- Dave and Gill

“We have just had the most beautiful week at Ruby Gem in Winterton, I would like to thank all who put these holidays together, from the owners to east Ruston, very very doggie friendly, few mins walk from the beach, apparently only 43 steps to the pub, (ha ha), and amenities close bye. The cottage was spotless, with lovely goodies for humans and doggies, we walked, we ate, we drank, and mostly we chillaxed, nothing else needed!!! and we had fab weather, we will definitely be back and definitely with east rushton thank you to you all xx”

- Sharon & Ian

“We had a lovely week at Natulius. This is our second holiday to Norfolk this year, we stayed at another ERC property in May and decided to book again and wanted somewhere close to the beach. We arrived after a long drive to a welcome pack for us and biscuits for the dog, which was appreciated. The portch is handy plenty of dog bowels, and towels for the dogs which is helpful and saves room in the car. Nautilus is in a great location, a three minute walk to the beach, a lovely, quiet sandy beach and you can hear the sea at night! Inside Nautilus is modern, the bathroom is a good size and lots of space for toiletries and the shower is good too. Ironing board and iron, washing machine which is always handy. The garden isn't huge but it is nicely laid out and having the beach so close it isn't an issue as we made so much use of having the beach on the doorstep. We ate at The Star (our favourite) meals are brilliant and it's dog friendly and staff are lovely, you can walk from Nautilus it took us 35 minutes. We also ate at The Ship Inn too. We got a takeaway from Oriental Garden in Bacton (collection & cash only) but great food. We also got a lovely pizza from Monzu (pizza van) they pitch up at Wroxham- definitely recommend the wood fire pizza's they were brilliant. We also went to Smallsticks a 15 minute walk from Nautilus, a great place to visit for cake or food. We spent most of our time at the beach but we also went to Bacton Woods too, great walk. Tescos is also close by for essentials. We had a lovely stay, the location is peaceful and having the beach on the doorstep was definitely a plus for us. Also nice to have an 11am check out too. Thank you for a great stay. ”

- Charlene

“Perfect dog friendly holiday cottages. well equipped and take multiple dogs. All accommodation is a high standard. Dog friendly pubs and cafes, excellent beaches.”

- stephanie

“Just had the most amazing break at Misty Meadows. Huge enclosed garden and my 5 dogs couldn’t believe the space! The house was lovely! Welcome goodies left for the dogs were fab and the bits for myself were amazing! (The sausages were to die for!) The house is in such a lovely area for EVERYTHING! Not far from gorgeous beaches and the beautiful Hickling Broads within walking distance. Highly recommend and plan to go back soon!”

- Michelle Gumm

“Victoria Cottage: Happisburgh Common Our first ever self catering holiday and it won't be our last. Victoria Cottage, the owners and ERC provided everything we needed to ensure our 4 night break was stress free and super comfortable. We took two dogs along, one who is super reactive and the other recovering from being quite ill. Ideally situated in a quiet location but also close to many local amenities, country walks, beach walks, pubs and cafes. The cottage owners were so very welcoming, little gifts of homemade dog treats, fresh eggs and a super tasty Victoria Sponge were a nice touch. On hand to provide advice on dog friendly locations to visit but never intrusive. The cottage was very well equipped, super comfy beds and sofas, a lovely sunny and contained courtyard. We will certainly be returning.”

- Sarah Mason

“Spent the week of June 3rd 2022 thru June 10th 2022 at The Crib. Outstanding location, spotless cottage, completely dog-friendly with a fab large back garden -- perfect for my two Giant South African Mastiffs. Lots of room indoors, including a fab kitchen that had everything needed to cook a meal -- including a proper Sunday Roast. This was our 4th stay at The Crib, and 5th stay at one of the East Ruston Cottages. Sue and her team are outstanding. Wouldn't stay with anyone else when looking to book a holiday in Norfolk! Already have another week booked at a different cottage for the New Year.... Always feels like home away from home. Even the dogs feel the same way. Highly Recommend! Robin Gennings - Essex UK”

- Robin Gennings

“I recently saw a FB post describing Redroofs as “wrinkly cleavage and wonky incisors. :-) Grey roots and comfy slippers! ”. Well, that’s fine because it describes me too, so we were obviously made for each other. Neither of us is flashy or ostentatious; in some parts we’re quite plain and basic but overall we’re full of comfort, homeliness and kwytch. Oh, and don’t forget the peace and quiet... Have seen lots of improvements over the years and it continues to be our holiday home of choice – the location is simply perfect (private road, view of broad); gardens are wonderful - both the secure back paddock (for the dog) and the pretty front for the early evening sunsets; beds are REALLY comfortable and the power shower is awesome; can’t beat a log fire when an evening turns chilly; whatever you want, it will probably be there somewhere (Redroofs is pretty well kitted out, especially the kitchen); everywhere is clean and fresh. Jane provided fresh flowers and a particularly interesting welcome pack this visit and also met our special requests. Missing Redroofs already ...”

- Joy

“Stayed at White Cottage for a week in May, the owners Penel and Leith were so lovely and the cottage was just perfect with the most amazing fully enclosed garden, so when the pups didn’t want a long walk they could play around the garden. Warm outside showed was def welcome with dogs that love water and mucky puddles! Felt totally relaxed from the minute we walked through the door and so did our dogs, which is most important, never felt we had to say ‘don’t go there’, ‘get off the sofa’ etc, it was a home from home. Would highly recommend both White Cottage and East Ruston Cottages, Sue and George couldn’t be more helpful.”

- Mell Thornley

“Stayed at Wag-Tail Cottage at Ingham. Comfortable, well equipped cottage in a great rural location. Excellent secure garden for our dog, with dog bed, toys and treats supplied. A nice touch was temporary dog tags giving the mobile number of the cottage owner if our dog went missing locally. We were contacted direct by Vikki, the owner of the cottage, ensuring everything was to our satisfaction. Ingham is only a couple of miles from the town of Stalham with all the necessary amenities. The cottage is located within easy reach of great beaches (especially Cart Gap) Cromer and the Broads. Also Wroxham, where we took the train into Norwich. We would thoroughly recommend East Rushton Cottages and Wag-Tail in particular. ”

- Gregory Deacon

“Home from a week at Cornerways. A unique property. I think I noticed something every day, that I hadn't noticed the day before. I loved the beach painting on the wall and the boat above the bathroom door. Dogs (three Greyhounds) settled in quickly and enjoyed dashing round the cabin from front to back. The outside is very secure, once you have bolted the tall gate. They really loved the big sofa. We met Lee Ann (the owner), who is lovely. The coastal path walk was a hit with dogs and us humans. You could get on the walk at Cart Gap, parking in the car park, or walking down. Near there was Small Stix Cafe and their cakes are to die for. We decided to take them back to Cornerways to enjoy them. On previous ERC holidays we have visited Veras and this time enjoyed using the voucher for a lunch out. Treated ourselves to raspberries and cream to have for tea that day. Went to Sea Palling and tried the hot donuts, which were scrummy.”

- Susan Dyer

“Fabulous location!! 5 minutes walk from the front door to the beach. Perfect for our two labradors, lots of space to run around and play in the sea. A dog friendly pub 10 minutes walk with beautiful sea views. Seaview Cottage: A great property Sleeps 8 people but there were only 2 humans and 2 dogs. We chose this property because of secure garden, lots of added extras such as dog treats, doggy shower, extremely dog friendly, human treats too, a nice welcome pack of cake, milk, coffee & teabags. Hand towels and tea towels provided plus bedding. Hot tub available (we paid extra for this ! Not included in original booking which I didn’t realise at first) . Seaview cottage has a log burner in the cosy lounge, Tv with free sat in every bedroom as well as the lounge . Fabulous Stay.. Explored all the dog friendly beaches and places to visit in the surrounding area.”

- Seaview Cottage

“We have just spent a lovely week at The Farmhouse at Thirst's Farm. The house was in an ideal spot for our family, 6 adults, 1 four yearr old and a large German Pointer. There was something for everyone from local beaches to boats on the Broads, Dinosaurs and BeWilderwood, gardens and train trips. The house was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The garden very secure for our athletic GSP and there were plenty of local walks to try. The Star at Lessingham was very dog friendly and provided good food and Smallsticks cafe at Cart Gap was another favourite stopping off point. We will certainly be looking for another holiday soon.”

- Anne Hollis

“Another holiday via East Ruston dog friendly holidays. This time Rooster barn. Lots of positives, mega clean, lots of dog throws, large garden, shopping put away before we arrived. Lovely quiet lane walks and bridleways. However, sltot on sofas all week due to the bed so uncomfortable. Not suitable for reactive dogs as dog next door is reactive. But lovely barn znd would book again if bed was better. Negative for us on this occasion...local shop closed. Road closures to North walsham making vet and supermarket impossible and not knowing the area couldn't get there. High tide every time we went to ⛱. Trunch is very picturesque and the villagers all friendly. My rate of experience reflects Rooster barn as not their fault re road closure etc. Would be 5 if mattress was not lumpy and hard. ”

- Mrs Taylor

“Wonderful week at Hidden Gem in Winterton on Sea. The cottage has everything you could ever need for humans and dogs, a real home from home . Lovely walks from the door across the dunes to the dog friendly beach . Local pub is excellent and very dog friendly . We have stayed here many times and will be back again ! No charge for dogs and lots of welcome goodies for us and our pack. Highly recommend this cottage and East Ruston cottages .”

- Dawn Mason

“I recently come back from a holiday at Redroofs in Hickling, Norfolk. With an expert escapee dog holidays can be quite stressful. Luckily the garden at Redroofs was extremely secure allowing me to relax (slowly day by day...habits are hard to break). The house is in a very tranquil area with views at the front over Hickling Broad and the large garden at the back (more than big enough to run in). The house was comfortable and the owners extraordinarily welcoming (even gifting us a large homemade cake and welcome basket with all of the essentials. A wonderful holiday all round.”

- Suzanne

“Just got back from a fabulous week at The Crib, not only did the sunshine (most of the week). Our 2 rescue dogs had the time of there lives lounging on sofa's & beds (yes really) they are allowed on the beds. Some even have no restrictions on how many dogs are allowed. There was everything needed for us humans too. ERC are the best dog friendly holiday company by far.”

- Sharon Winders

“We have enjoyed a wonderful stay at Brian’s cottage in Honing. Great walks around the house and lovely countryside. Brian’s cottage is a very comfortable bungalow with everything one would want or need. Liz and Tim who live next door are the most generous hosts and the treats and goodies for dogs and owners are second to none. We were all exceedingly spoiled! Really looking forward to coming back here again. ”

- Rita Lenko

“We stayed at Brian’s cottage with our 10 dogs and can’t fault the place !!! It is really well equipped for a home from home as well as everything to make the dogs feel at home. Stunning views and great walks as well as a fantastic welcome for us all. Liz and Tim were amazing and on hand if we needed anything including helping us sort a flat tyre. Highly recommended ! We will be back!”

- Christine Goldsmith

“What a great place to stay. Corner Cottage ticked all the boxes, excellent accommodation, quiet and peaceful setting and best of all safe dog walking straight from the cottage. Would strongly recommend.”

- John Haskey

“Superb flat in Victoria Court, Sheringham that was really well equipped with everything you could possibly need for us and dogs too. Great walks nearby and lots of excellent places to eat that welcome dogs. ”

- Lesley

“Wow! The most dog friendly company we have ever come across. We stayed in Beachcomber in Winterton and humans and dogs absolutely loved it. We have only been home 4 hours and we’ve already booked it again. Spotlessly clean, well equipped, warm and lots of little touches to make you feel welcome. ”

- Nicola Pink

“Second visit to The Crib and it was still perfect! I've been to a lot of 'dog friendly' cottages but this is a different level. Loads of throws and towels, dogs allowed everywhere in house, truly secure garden, doggy first aid items, muzzle, coats, poo bags, holiday tags, dog treats...there's soooo much! And the area is beautiful and the cottage gorgeous, of course. The ERC chat page on FB is really helpful, and Sue and Helen are both so lovely. Cannot recommend highly enough!”

- Lisa Davies

“Thatchers in Happisburgh was the absolute perfect location for a Christmas get away with family , friends and our two dogs . After nearly 2 years working as a nurse in urgent care and covid services , the thought of this stay is what has kept me going . I adored this property and wish the lucky owners a very happy retirement to this special place . Thanks so much . ”

- Zoe Palmer

“We have just returned from an east Ruston cottage holiday at the walnut in Happisburgh. This company are so dog friendly and go that extra mile and really ensure your dogs are well taken care of. We arrived to a basket full of goodies and home baked dog treats which the dogs loved. They supplied dog beds and throws and bowls every thing your dog needs. Lovely walks and beaches for the dogs. Shannon’s Pet sitting services are local in Happisburgh and we used this service for our three dogs, excellent service Shannon was so good with our dogs even my rescue dog was happy. She is very reasonably priced and highly recommended. East Ruston cottages is highly recommended for a super dog friendly holiday always going that extra mile to ensure you have the best holiday with your furry friends. Great value professional service”

- Debbie Pauley

“Review of Greenwood Barn by Parkka, Hobbs and Stan Well, what a pawsome time we have just had. The cottage was just the best dog friendly place we have ever stayed. We were made so very welcome with biscuits provided for our arrival and bowls, throws, poo bags and crates all provided so our Hoomans didn't have to stress. We were even allowed on the large and VERY comfy sofas...pure bliss! The garden was large and very secure so again we could run around and not stress our Hoomans. All this and just a quick drive to loads of dog friendly beaches, cafes and country walks right on the doorstep. Oh and our couzins were allowed to visit us while we were there too. Probably the most flexible and dog friendly place we have ever stayed. Hope we can come back soon. Thank you for allowing us scraggy, dirty fur ridden creatures to stay in your wonderful cottage x”

- Carmela Clark

“Fantastic week in November; would recommend without hesitation. Excellent base for exploring the Winterton-on-Sands area with your four legged companions. Hidden Gem had everything we needed and more for our stay. Our flour dogs (Lurcher sisters Joan and June and two Whippets Sparkles and Neave were very well catered or and the treats and toys were a lovely touch).”

- elizabeth maddox

“East Ruston Cottages - Manor Barn We have just returned from a mid week break in the beautiful Manor Barn. From the very generous welcome basket for humans and dogs, the Barn has all the mod coms you would need for a week. The detail that has been put into the Barn was stunning and of course a great location for the beach or field walk with our 10yr old Lab Denzel. The Barn is a must stay and on the cold winter nights the log burner was an additional treat. We will return, this was our second day with East Ruston Cottages in a 10 day period and we will return as always. Thanks Sue for searching out so many dog friendly locations including, cafes, pubs and restaurants all of the hard work had been done for us.”

- Shelly Vardy

“The Vineyard Cottage We have just stayed in this beautiful little gem in East Ruston. Hidden with fields around you this is the perfect place for either relaxation and local walks or the perfect base for many of the stunning beaches and cafes a short drive away. Collette is on hand for anything you may need to know, we needed nothing as the cottage had everyone we needed. ”

- Shelly Vardy

“We have just spent a fabulous week at Wag-Tail cottage. The weather was perfect for daily walks on the many beautiful beaches surrounding the cottage, with Happisburgh and Winterton being our favourites. The cottage was clean and had a well stocked kitchen, the garden was secure for our 2 spaniels and the log burner was nice in the colder evenings. The welcome hamper was a lovely, personal touch and was enjoyed by all, including the dogs. There was the use of a medium crate, which was perfect for our puppy and the stairs had a gate, to stop them paying visits upstairs! It's a beautiful area to explore, with the fantastic smallsticks cafe 5 minutes drive away. We hope to be back next year.”

- H Rollins

“September 2021 Cornerways in Eccles. Great holiday in this quirky cabin, very comfortable and relaxing. The beaches are clean and literally on the doorstep. Our dogs Dora and Mollie are loving the long walks as are we, pristine beaches and not too crowded, we've already booked to come back next year.”

- Adrian Filipovitsch

“Redroofs September 2021 The peace and quiet ... On a private road overlooking one of Norfolk's largest and most beautiful Broads, this is relaxation heaven. Not a sound but the birds. Lots of dragonflies, but they don't make any noise. Redroofs is a home not a house, a little quirky but immensely comfortable. There isn't anything that we need on holiday that seems to be missing from Redroofs - outdoor seating & dining facilities, gas barbeque, lots of sofas and armchairs, loads of china & kitchen equipment for those that like to cook, buoyancy aids for the rowing boat, terrific shower, comfortable beds ... The rear garden is enormous, very secure and not overlooked - peace of mind to let the dog(s) do their thing. The front garden is beautifully planted and is the bit with view. Can't wait to go back.”

- Joy Starkey

“Just returned home from a week at The Grove. This is the fifth ERC we have stayed in and one of the best. It is a very comfortable bungalow with a good sized secure garden and lovely sitting area. A real home from home feel and well equipped. The location is lovely - very quiet and great walks on the doorstep. ”

- Kirsty

“I really don't know where to start; this house is amazing! There were 8 adults and 5 dogs in our party and there was plenty of room for us all. The kitchen has everything you need: more than enough plates, cutlery, glasses etc; plenty of pans and utensils and even a Tassimo coffee machine. The utility room was a great place to store all our doggy equipment and the snug was lovely to sit and read in. All the beds were comfortable and each room included hairdryers. There are lots of DVDs, books and games to keep you occupied and also lots of spare dog leads, dishes and beds (there is even a separate bin in the shed for the dog poo!) Our dogs had a ball! They loved the garden and, with a footpath straight over the road that led directly to the beach, it was ideal for our energetic spaniels. We will miss our walks to Sea Palling and Happisburgh! Overall, a fantastic time was had by all, infact the dogs' tails didn't stop wagging all week!”

- Karen Lunn

“Great location, wonderful accommodation, we all had a brilliant time and would definitely go back again. Best doggie friendly holiday's in the uk.”

- Clair Andrews

“We have just returned from a wonderful week at Wagtail Cottage. The cottage was beautiful, comfortable and had everything we needed. It is very dog friendly and we couldn’t fault East Ruston Cottages. We can highly recommend and we wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.”

- Lisa Gleave

“We have just returned from an absolutely glorious week at The Farmhouse. The house was perfectly set up for a large family with three boisterous dogs, and I couldn't recommend it more. A outside warm dog shower to clean sandy dogs off, the added bonus of a dog agility course, but more importantly a house that has been thoughtfully set out to accommodate dogs and take the stress out of travelling with dogs. The house is ideally located for dog friendly beaches and for the humans has been well decorated with lovely large bedrooms and plenty of room downstairs (and a games room!). Tim, the owner was also very attentive and helpful. We had a fabulous week which was enjoyed by all two legged and four legged creatures!! ”

- Katie

“We have just returned from our third visit to Milestone Barn. Once again we had a wonderful holiday. The barn is just lovely, very well furnished, and with everything that could be required. It is situated in a beautiful, quite area, with a lovely view. It is a 10 minute drive to the nearest beach, and a 30 minute, or less drive, to Cromer and many more of Norfolks fantastic, dog friendly beaches and pubs. Very highly recommended. ”

- Anne Pearce

“It’s the last night of our third visit to a White Cottage. If we didn’t love it here, we wouldn’t keep on coming back. We love the house, it’s spacious, well equipped for both human and canine guests, clean and definitely not doggy smelling! We love the garden, it’s large! Plenty of room to run around in, the fire pit and barbecue are welcome additions. We love this place! ”

- Ruth Adams

“We have have had a lovely holiday at The Crib in Happisburgh. The cottage is absolutely lovely. Comfortable and so well equipped with everything we needed. And so dog friendly. The garden was lovely and secure which our 2 dogs enjoyed. Great location for the beautiful beaches. Lovely welcome hamper. Would recommend to friends and family.”

- Peggy Searl

“We stayed at Manor Barn in Happisburgh for the last week. There are lots of lovely walks across fields or to Happisburgh or cart gap beach straight from the door. The barn is beautifully decorated and well equipped with lovely bathrooms and comfy bedrooms and beds. The kitchen gorgeous with lots of space. Both us and our rescue dog were made to feel very welcome and nothing really was too much trouble even helping me book a birthday surprise for my mum. Lovely outside area and grassed orchard. ”

- Lisa Critchell

“Our first stay at High Barn, hopefully not the last! We have been on several ERC holidays, REALLY dog friendly - not just, one small dog £25, but AS MANY AS YOU LIKE - FREE! Not once have we gone to a cottage and it smelt 'doggy'. Always high standard of cleanliness and friendliness! High Barn is at the end of an unmade road with magical views across the countryside and sea. Well thought out, seating all around this detached property, to catch the sun as it works it's way around. Walks straight from the property, and easy waking/driving distance to many of the lovely Norfolk beaches. Only downside, so popular is it solidly booked for 2021/22, but we will be keeping an eye open for any cancellations. Thank you to Sue (ERC) and Leonie (owner of High Barn) for making our first 'post Covid' holiday one to remember!”

- Joan Patricia Lockett

“Redroofs - No gimmicks – just a perfectly dog-friendly and comfortable property in a stunning location! Not particularly modern or flashy, Redroofs is an old & quirky property with a fabulous outlook in a quiet and stunning location. On a private road overlooking one of Norfolk’s quietest and most beautiful Broads it’s a real family home. Such a relief to be able to leave the back doors open knowing the dogs can run around the huge dog-safe rear garden without doing any damage or getting lost. Lots of outdoor seating for the sunny times in the gardens maintained by the lovely Jimmy. The kitchen is full of quality equipment, should you need it. There are carpets! This is great if your dog doesn’t like hard floors (like ours). It really is a home from home and that’s why we just keep on coming back...”

- Joy

“We have just retuned 7th May from a fabulous holiday and would highly recommend Thatch Cottage and your company to family and friends. Thatch cottage is really spacious for a large families and lots of dogs. The rear garden is secure and large enough to play with a ball and launcher, which our dog enjoyed. All the necessary home comforts and extra touches for both humans and dogs. It was also greatly valued by our family that we were allowed to make our own minds up about leaving our elderly and well trained dog in the cottage whilst we ventured out for an hour or two without her. Most other cottages companies make sweeping generalisations about not leaving pets unattended and for those concerned there was even the numbers of local dog sitters locally and a dog crate for or use. ”

- Mandy

“We stayed at 1 Chapel Cottage in Norfolk in August 2020 as a last minute break and were so happy with our choice. The cottage was lovely and clean with everything we needed on arrival. Our 4 dogs loved the garden, especially paddling in the pond at the back to cool down. Location was great, 5 minute drive to a lovely beach with restaurants and arcade. Local pub few minutes drive or 20 mins walk did lovely food and dog friendly too. Large supermarket 10 minutes drive away too to get everything you need if you want to cook in the cottage which we did most days. Brilliant, quiet farm walks straight behind the cottage too. We had a fantastic week and really enjoyed ourselves, thank you!”

- 1 Chapel Cottage, Norfolk

“10 out of 10 for our recent stay at The Lodge with our two dogs. Accommodation was clean & very well equipped. Location was lovely (as described). No limits to where dogs could go in the property and a dog friendly garden. Would we recommend it - yes Would we go back - definitely yes. Well done East Ruston cottages. ”

- Jayne Wilkinson

“We have just returned from our third holiday with East Ruston Cottages. We cannot recommend them enough. Sue and her team are so helpful and booking is so easy. They try to meet every need and we have never stayed anywhere else that is as doggy friendly. ”

- Anna Gillett

“Lovely stay at High Barn in a 2 family bubble with our assorted dogs. Barn was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The upstairs bedroom suite is very stylish and has a great balcony with sea views and gorgeous sunrises. The cake, wine and flowers on arrival were very welcome. The cake was delicious! Great large secure garden for dogs, we have a resident escape artist and try as she might she didnt manage to find a way out for the whole stay - this is unheard of! Lol. Excellent location with a short walk to beach or into the village of Happisburgh. Great location for day trips too - we went to lots of different places and recommend Holt for a stroll round lovely independent shops, Horsey for the seals - we saw over 100 on the beach a truly amazing sight, Thirgby Wildlife Gardens (our grandson loved the leopards and the crocodiles) and Sea Palling for kite flying on the beach. Had lovely meal at Lighthouse Inn and took home some delicious seafood from the shack in Happisburgh. Thoroughly recommend. We travelled all the way from Scotland but it was worth the long drive and hope to be back in the future as still loads more to see and do.”

- Jennifer Thomson

“We stayed at Chapel Cottage, a rearranged visit after we had to postpone in May because of lockdown, so it was a much needed break by the time it came around. The cottage was absolutely spotless, and so dog friendly. Marley appreciated the dog biscuits in the welcome basket and we were so comfortable knowing it was ok for him to be on the sofa, unlike some other 'dog friendly' places, where they clearly don't know that family pets are usually allowed to snuggle up with their humans! We were a bit unlucky with the weather but still had some lovely days out on the beaches at Winterton, Horsey, Happisburgh and Sea Palling. The huge beaches made it fairly easy for us to keep to ourselves as Marley is reactive with other dogs, so we try to steer clear; although the other owners we did encounter were all much more understanding and considerate about putting their dogs on leads and moving away quickly than those we usually meet in London! The location in Lessingham was great for easy access to places and the cottage was cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. We walked across the fields to The Star, which was lovely, and had Sunday lunch delivered from The Ingham Swan, which was delicious. All in all a great holiday, in a lovely part of the world, I am sure we will book with East Ruston Cottages again!”

- Katie Ormerod

“We have recently returned from a wonderful holiday in White Cottage with our furry foursome. Such a cosy homely cottage with a huge, safe garden for the furry family members to play in. Everything is so well thought out with every need possible catered for. There are some lovely walks from the door or a very short drive to cafes and beautiful beaches, all of which are very welcoming to dogs. Truly dog friendly in every way ! You honestly can't beat East Ruston Cottages for a perfect, relaxed break away. ”

- Carolyn and Qamar Taylor

“Excellent stay at The Lodge very well equipped, best ever welcome pack. Best of all very secure garden so no worries of any escape from the pooch ”

- Helen O Keeffe

“We were lucky enough to stay at Brian's Cottage in August and can thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage. We were greeted on arrival by Liz and Tim who are perfect hosts, helpful and friendly but not intrusive. As well as the yummy welcome pack (including homemade ciabatta and cake!), Tim gave us some fresh produce from their garden too. A card and some fizz for a special birthday was also a lovely touch. The cottage is set in an extremely quiet area which made sitting in the garden whilst listening and watching the wildlife, and the ever changing skies, absolute bliss. Being able to watch the birds in the front garden whilst enjoying our morning cuppa was also a highlight - the robins and a woodpecker were our favourites. The cottage itself is perfect with everything needed for a relaxing holiday. Our elderly Bichon loved the outdoor K9 bed too and was happy to snooze away on it.  Unfortunately, due to a family emergency, we had to leave early, and extremely swiftly - I cannot stress enough what a difference Liz's calm, helpful and caring manner made in a very hectic 40 minutes of throwing everything in the car, and afterwards as well. This really showed the dedication to looking after their guests in every way. We would return in a heartbeat. ”

“After all that 2020 has given us so far, a stay in High Barn & the lovely Norfolk was just what was needed! We stayed as a large family group with 2 dogs and had a brilliant week. High Barn is a wonderful place with everything you could need for your holiday. The hot tub was an added bonus and we would definitely recommend you book this to use during your stay. The views from the balcony were stunning and watching the sunrise over the sea is something special. The dogs loved the secure garden, snoozing by the log burner and running on the ‘secret beach’. The welcome pack was great with loads of ideas of things to do. Between us, we did a lot in a week but highlights were a visit to Happisburgh Owls (book ahead) a visit to Horsey beach to see the seals and a boat trip on the broads. Other trips out included breakfast at Smallsticks Café, walks in Bacton Woods, Winterton beach, Cart Gap, Sea Palling, East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden, Meales garden centre and a meal out at the Lighthouse Inn in Walcott. We also ordered meals in from The Ingham Swan and The Mermaid’s Slipper which were delicious. Thank you Sue & Leonie for a very special family holiday with lots of memories to treasure. None of us wanted to come home! We hope to be back again soon. ”

- Katharine

“Another lovely holiday booked through East Ruston Cottages. Our first visit to the beautiful Thatch Cottage with next year already booked. ”

- Jane

“A truly dog and people friendly holiday. Everything we needed and the dogs needed was at the cottage. We have three more stays booked - that speaks volumes. Perfect. ”

- Melanie

“The Lodge at East Ruston is the most dog friendly cottage I have stayed in the ten years I have been holidaying with my dog. A private and secure garden with hot and cold shower outside. Lots of spare accessories available if you've forgotten yours. Contact with Sue was excellent and regularly updated during lockdown. I would return to the Lodge again but it would be great if the company could add more one bedroom accommodation to its portfolio”

- Hilary Keens

“Absolutely brilliant holiday. The cottage was lovely, the owners were so welcoming. East Ruston Cottages are an amazing company. So dog friendly, the best we have come across. We have booked another holiday with them later this year. I cannot recommend them highly enough. ”

- Katrina Wade

“"Edelweiss was just lovely, the garden at the front was heaven for our two furies as they people watch and the odd person walking past got told off. lovely walks to choose from, our favourite was through the field to the beach. Tracie the host was amazing even found us our new home.Great place to relax and chill also the added bonus of having a neighbour who makes cakes and savouries once a week."”

- EUGENE EDWARDS

“Hidden Gem at Winterton-on-Sea was well named: it was a fabulous cottage backing on to the dunes. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable and cosy stay - even with Storm Dennis at its peak. It was warm & welcoming and even included a basket of goodies on arrival. Everything was geared up for a relaxing stay with dogs catered for completely. I parked my car outside when we arrived and didn’t need to move it until we left the following Friday: Winterton had everything we needed right on our doorstep - a dog-friendly pub (Fisherman’s Return), two dog-friendly cafés (The Dunes & Poppy’s Tea Room), a Post Office and convenience stores & a fish & chip shop. What more could we need! The locals were friendly & welcoming too... And then there were miles and miles of unspoiled beaches and dunes to explore - utter bliss for dogs & people alike. We will definitely be back. Thank you, East Ruston Cottages! ”

- Sarah Popplestone

“We stayed at THE CRIB in Happisburgh with our rescue dog Charlie who can be reactive. The Crib was perfect for us. Charlie loved the large very secure garden and could not get enough beach time. We stayed at the cottage in February so we’re lucky enough to be able to take advantage of log fires every evening after our days exploring the area. The Crib will not disappoint and we will be going back. ”

- Wayne & Jane

“We have recently stayed in the beautiful farthing cottage trunch. A lovely home from home great size garden has everything needed very clean and spacious lovely village great walks for the fur babys. Welcome package a nice bottle of wine and homemade dog treats very nice touch. Sue very friendly and helpful couldn't of asked for more a truly lovely break in a pretty village miss it already x”

- Carmen Beattie

“3 couples and 3 dogs stayed at Thatch Cottage and it was fabulous. As soon as you walked in it felt like home, it was comfortable and well equipped for humans and dogs alike. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. The beach was lovely as was the nearby pub. We would go back in a heartbeat, we loved it there.”

- Sheila Millar

“Hidden Gem is a very special hideaway from all the stresses of the world. This property is just gorgeous and so lovely that everything for the dogs is also taken into account too with plenty of throws and dog towels provided. A highlight for me was that the back double bedroom overlooks the dunes and just having the windows open and listening to the sound of the wind through the grasses combined with the sound of the sea is magical both in the day and at night to drift off to sleep to. The house has everything thought of for you and is very nicely decorated throughout. We all adored walking straight out onto the dunes from morning through to night for our dog walks and being so close to the sea is a bonus for those long, leisurely beach walks. Lovely to have a cafe, tearoom and pub all in the village itself and all accepting and accommodating dogs whilst providing some gorgeous food too! Nearby villages are easy to get to both by foot and car (depending on how energetic you're feeling). This holiday had everything we could have wanted and more, so nice to also have a little welcome tray on arrival. Ours had jam, bread, apple juice, a jam roly-poly sponge and some Nero dog biscuits (which ours loved) as well as a pint of milk in the fridge and tea and coffee to get you started. It's so wonderful to walk in somewhere, instantly feel at home and to be able to have a cake and cuppa before unpacking. Sue at East Ruston Cottages was brilliant to deal with throughout (not that we needed her whilst we were away but I'm sure if we had have she would have helped out without hesitation). The feeling we got was that Sue at East Ruston Cottages (and the cottage owners) go out of their way to make sure you have the most amazing holiday possible. We will certainly be returning customers and will recommend to everyone we know Hayley & David (Ansel and Ernie) :-) ”

- Hayley Whiting

“My friend and I have just had our second stay at Milestone Barn. As soon as we arrived we relaxed, as did our three Greyhounds and one Pointer I had a couple of requests, which the owners were happy to do. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Sadly we had to come home early, due to me having a bad fall on the road and breaking my arm. Got a lovely phone message from Pat (the owner) when she heard we had come home early. If you want a relaxed holiday in a lovely converted barn, in beautiful surroundings, with The Paxton way literally across the road, then book up now.”

- Susan Dyer

“Our stay In Skylark was wonderful. A perfect setting right beside the beach. The walks along the beach for hours were perfect and very relaxing. The ability to walk to cafes and pubs that were dog friendly was just what we wanted. Thank you for a perfect few days away.”

- T Nixon

“We had a fantastic week at The Walnut - a beautiful converted barn with a hot tub. Brilliant service as always from Sue at ERC who always goes that extra mile, and from Stella and Paul, the lovely barn owners. The barn is in a great location and is really well appointed with lots of little extras which add to your stay and both dogs and humans have everything needed for a relaxing break. Our dog settled in straightaway and was more than happy to curl on the sofas whilst we enjoyed the (extremely well maintained) hot tub - which was a great way to relax after walking and cycling around the area. The peace of just sitting and looking at the fields and wildlife whilst in the hot tub or on the outdoor sofas was just perfect. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary whilst there and were extremely touched by the personalised touches which Stella and Paul (and Sue) provided. Exceptional pub, The Star, with great food within walking distance. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we hope to return. ”

- Anne

“This is our second year staying at the east Ruston cottages. The walnut was amazing, it was Really well equipped and done to a very high standard. It was really safe for the dogs and the hot tub was a great Luxury for us. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning there again. ”

- Nicolette Morris

“This is our 3rd stay with East Ruston Cottages. This time at Running Hare Barn, what can we say. Super, spacious, absolutely exceptional. Not only did we love it so did our furry friends. 6adults,2teenagers, 1baby and 5dogs. Area around barn beautiful, peaceful plenty of walks. Beaches easy to reach. ”

- Jan and Ian Carter

“Spent a week at The Crib in Happisburg. Absolutely fantastic cottage. Spotless clean. Well equipped and Super dog friendly - throws, towels, toys, and BIG SECURE PRIVATE garden. Just perfect for our two Boerboels (South African Mastiffs). Close to the beach, and many places to walk the dogs. Highly recommend and we are already booked for another week next year! ”

- Robin Crisbacher & Kevin Gennings

“Just back from a week at Farthing Cottage. Genuinely dog friendly, comfortable cottage, lovely village location. Plenty of dog friendly beaches & walks nearby, also pubs & cafes where you will be welcome. Completely secure garden, throws, towels & all the other doggie essentials provided. We will book with ERC again.”

- Sandra D.

“This was our fourth stay in an East Ruston Cottage, the third in Red Roofs. We keep coming back to Red Roofs as it is in such a relaxing location. It’s right on the broads and spending sunny evenings on the front lawn with a G&T watching the world go by is just bliss. The house is very spacious and the garden is fully enclosed, although I wouldn’t bring some of my dogs here as one of the fences is a little low. The pup we did take really enjoyed the enormous back lawn! We will be back ”

- Sarah Shaylor

“Just spent a fantastic week at Victoria Cottage. The cottage is beautiful and immaculately clean. This has been the most dog welcoming property that we’ve ever stayed in. Lots of places to explore from here and the beach is so near and very quiet for the dogs to enjoy a swim. Will definitely return.”

- Karen

“We've been to Norfolk several times before but this was our first visit to Farthing Cottage in Trunch and we were not disappointed. It is a lovely, well equipped home from home with a very secure, enclosed garden. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend East Ruston Cottages as a dog friendly holiday and can't wait to return.”

- Alyson, Nigel and Harley

“We had the most amazing time at White Cottage, Happisburgh - it was a perfect, really dog-friendly family cottage with all our needs catered for and many more. So much attention to detail, and homely touches making it far more than just a holiday cottage for us, our two children and, of course, our Labrador. Very efficient booking process, and we appreciated the very thoughtful Welcome Pack on our arrival. White Cottage couldn't be more dog-friendly! The location is superb, beautiful beaches on our doorstep and many more just a short drive away. Surfed at Cromer, watched seals at Blakeney, went rock pooling at West Runton, sailed on the Broads from Wroxham and enjoyed many coastal walks. Happisburgh is an ideal base as well as being a lovely place to stay itself.”

- Candy Waller

“Stayed at Holmes house with our 5 dogs, had a wonderful time, very relaxing accommodation and dog safe garden. Lovely local walks and our dogs loved the beach at Sea Palling, lots of dog friendly pubs/restaurants can’t recommend this holiday enough. Thanks to East Ruston cottages ”

- June Grainger

“This was our 3rd stay in an ERC cottage / house and it won’t be our last. We love Sea Palling and surrounding areas and to be able to stay within a few minutes from the beach in a house big enough for extended family and 3 dogs with no charge for dogs was just a dream a few years ago. This time we stayed in St Benets a large Victorian house a stones throw from wonderful dog friendly beach, pub, cafes & shop. The house had been cleaned so well you would never believe previous occupants had been anywhere near the beach with their dogs. Comfy beds & sofas and dog safe garden. Communication with Sue excellent. ”

- June Sparrow

“We have just returned from our stay at Milestone Barn. It was perfect. Comfortable, well equipped and dog friendly and loved the large windows looking out on the lovely view. The location is great, with lovely walks from the Barn, and Trimming Beach close by, which the dogs loved. We also visited the lovely beaches at Winterton,Happisburgh and Sea Palling. We had a lovely relaxing stay and would definitely stay again. ”

- Peggy Searl

“A wonderful warm welcome from the owners of Brian's cottage, a lovely comfortable spacious cottage. Delicious homemade cake waiting for us on arrival, along with all the basics needed, milk, bread, eggs, tea. coffee etc. which were much appreciated after a long drive! Perfect for a holiday with your 4 legged family members, from handmade doggie treats to dog beds of every shape and size & a totally enclosed rear garden, everything needed for our dogs had been thought off........ and more! Really well equipped cottage along with a beautiful patio and outdoor furniture to enjoy an afternoon/evening meal and a perfect spot to relax with a drink whilst watching watch the setting sun. Such a quiet and beautiful location with lovely views across the fields up to the church, but only 20 mins from the beach, we would highly recommend and would love to return!”

- Jo Irving

“Stayed at several of the East Ruston cottages - all great and the latest stay at Orchard Cottage was no exception. Cottage was very well equipped, especially for the dogs - loads of dog throws, bowls and toys. Great location, very peaceful, few minutes walk to the sea, fish shop and lovely field walks The garden was fab, very secure for the dogs and loads of room for them to run around in - and really nice to sit in with a glass of wine or two! Lovely welcome pack - wonderful cake didn’t last long and neither did the dog biccies. Would definitely stay at Orchard again.”

- Dee McF

“We had a fantastic week, the dogs loved the garden and would recommend this company, hope to go back soon xx”

- Alison Wanstall

“I stayed at Heather Cottage in Happisburgh with my partner and four doggies. It was a lovely property in a wonderful location. Dogs felt very welcome there with wonderful walks on the doorstep. Highly recommend a visit for all dog owners. Cottage had everything you could need with a nice garden too. ”

- Rebecca Harrison

“I stayed at Hidden Gem for a week in March with my 2 dogs, the cottage was spotless, the goodies left on the kitchen table enjoyed by us all and the customer service from Sue at East Ruston Cottages was (as always) superb. Hidden Gem is a fabulous cottage where we all immediately feel at home, one of my girls particularly enjoys snuffling through the dog toy box to find out who was there last! The best bit for all of us is being able to step straight onto the dunes and beach without needing the car. ”

- Anna B

“Just spent a week at the beautiful Milestone Barn in Gimingham. The Barn is on a Quiet Lane, near a couple of quiet public footpaths and just over a mile away from the fabulous dog-friendly beaches at Trimingham and Mundesley. Both were pretty quiet during our stay (mid-March) and perfect if you want a peaceful time away from other people and dogs. The barn was extremely well-equipped, warm and all on one level. I've stayed at 3 different East Ruston Cottages properties now and the admin and assistance - if you need it - is excellent. They understand what dog owners need to know and are happy to provide advice on the property that would best suit your individual needs. I've rated '5' - assuming that's the best!”

- Sarah Richardson

“Having used East Ruston Cottages before, we had no doubt The Walnut would be another beautiful property and we were not disappointed. The Walnut is stunning inside and out. Stella and Paul should be very proud, especially Paul who did the build. The booklet showing the old farm building being transformed is very interesting. Everything about the property is high spec. Paul even had USB charging points put in and there are plenty of sockets (you can never have too many sockets). The welcome hamper was scrummy and our dogs (3 Greyhounds and a Pointer) enjoyed the dog biscuits. The beds and the Egyptian cotton bedding were divine. As soon as we put the throws (supplied) on the sofas our dogs took over. At one point we thought we would have to sit on the floor. Nothing was too much trouble for Stella and Paul. I had requested a summer duvet and fan and both were there. We saw an Owl and often heard them. Also Muntjac deer and birds of prey. If you want a stunning property, in a beautiful quiet area, the The Walnut is the place.”

- Sue Dyer

“We just recently stayed at the Crib, we can't recommend it enough. It's a really lovely house with everything you'd ever need. The owners have clearly thought of everything for the dogs, several comfy gig beds, doggie towels, fleeced for the sofa, bowls, poo bags and more. The garden is very secure and is a good size. Our 2 Jack Russell's absolutely loved it. There's good coastal walks on the door step and the local pub a few minutes away was very dog friendly. We would definitely recommend it.”

- Tonya Bacon

“Properly secure gardens, throws provided to allow dogs on sofas and being allowed to take more than the usual '2 well behaved dogs' all added up to a very relaxing holiday indeed! Our 3 have snoozed in front of the log burner, zoomed on the empty beaches and mooched safely in the garden. Beautifully furnished, clean accomodation, friendly village, beaches and a lighthouse, listening to crashing waves in bed....all add up to the most relaxing and truly dog friendly holiday we have ever had. ”

- Joanna from Sussex

“Just back from Brian’s Cottage and an amazing half term stay. The hosts, Tim and Liz were amazing and happy to help. Location is fantastic, with great views and superb dog walks. Furthermore, you’re not too far from well known spots such as the broads and Norwich if you’re looking for variety. Just amazing!”

- Daniel Higgins

“We’ve been booking so called , Dog Friendly, cottages for many years , but these people have gone the extra mile . Apart from the normal human comforts, towels are provided for your dogs, and an outside hot and cold, running shower, dog bowls, poo bags etc. The property over looks fields up towards a church , and the surrounding area is one endless dog walk.....we saw roe deer in the field and are told there is so much more to be seen. Thinking ahead to the better weather, we would come back, the local beach’s are amazing and dog friendly and would be great to bring our new grand child and family. Norwich is 12 miles away and Cromer half hour up the coast. Whether you like solitude and nature, or more of a family break, this is a great place to stay, especially if you have dogs. ”

- Ann and Kevin Rowley

“If you are looking for holiday accommodation in North Norfolk and you have dogs then you really can`t do better than Running Hare Barn. You and your furry friends will have your every need catered for in wonderfuly warm and comfortable surroundings. The area too is lovely,,, even in January, with lots of dog friendly pubs near at hand. We certainly intend paying a return visit , it served all our needs.”

- sandra wheatley

“Lovely cottage very clean and very well equipped even having a hose outside which made washing three dogs much easier. Plenty of public footpaths right on the doorstep and lovely clean beaches all dog friendly as were the pubs and cafes.”

- Jill Ashe

“Our second visit to these lovely cottages, this time staying at Heather Cottage which was so cosy and welcoming for humans and dogs alike with a totally secure garden. Minutes walk to the beach and a very dog friendly pub that serves great food. Short drive to hours of fun in the dunes and a range of huge sandy beaches, everywhere being the most dog friendly we have been to. ”

- Carolyn and Qamar

“We have stayed with East Ruston Cottages for the last few years, trying different cottages each time. We have not been disappointed yet! All the cottages we have stayed in are clean, welcoming, beautiful and have great secure gardens. Proper dog friendly cottages as opposed to dog tolerant. There is such a difference. Sue goes above and beyond to help with any queries and is very approachable and friendly. Our dogs have loved their holibobs with East Ruston Cottages and so have we. There is always a dog friendly pub close by, the walks are amazing and we always go home feeling relaxed and looking forward to our next trip!!”

- Elaine Roy

“Everything was great about White Cottage - lovely size, clean and welcoming, and everything there that you could want. We had a wonderful week - it went far too quickly!”

- Rebecca

“We have just returned from our week at the lovely White Cottage in Happisburgh. The cottage is just perfect. Comfortable and so well equipped and very dog friendly. The very large garden for the dogs which they loved. Also a great location, we enjoyed many walks to Happisburgh beach. There was a welcome pack waiting for us with many goodies and homemade biscuits for the dogs. We loved our stay at White Cottage and would book again. ”

- Peggy Searl

“We (husband & I, three Dalmatians and an Irish Red & White Setter) spent a very enjoyable week at Badger's Retreat in East Ruston. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, warm and homely, and the secure enclosed garden meant the dogs could potter in and out safely. There were some good local walks, and excellent beaches within a few miles. Our favourite beach was Winterton; totally dog-friendly with miles of sand and dunes, and a lovely beach cafe. A wonderfully relaxing break for us all.”

- Jan B

“We have just returned from a weeks stay in Holmes House. The dogs and humans had a lovely week there. Visited Sea Palling beach and Reefs Bar most days, a very dog friendly area as are lots of places in this part of Norfolk. East Ruston Cottages really are the most dog friendly accomodation we have stayed in, your dogs can treat these cottages literally as a home from home, other companies are only 'dog tolerant'!Caz at Holmes House made us most welcome. The house itself is very spacious and well equipped, garden of a generous size for the furry ones. Wouldn't hesitate to reccommend E.R.C to anyone with dogs.”

- GERALDINE HAYES

“Where else are all the cottages multi dog friendly with fantastic walks & beaches close by without that extra charge. Sue at ERC goes out of her way to help with any queries. ”

- June Sparrow

“Excellent service when booking. Sue helped us find the perfect property that suited our needs. We stayed in thatchers, comfortable property which caters for all our needs. Fantastic property for dogs, massive garden which is fully secure so no escapees!! This was the second time we have stayed here and will be back next year. ”

- Christine Little

“We stayed at the crib with our 6 dogs for the last week of september. We decided on the crib as the owners also had reactive sighthounds so knew the garden was safe. We had an amazing holiday, the house was spotless when we arrived. A private garden and enough room in the drive to back our truck up to the gate and let all our dogs out without fear of any escaping in the process. Raised dog beds, blankets, dog towels, trears for humans and dogs and even a minor injuries pack were included in the booking, which saves a massive amount of space when travelling. Hill house inn is a lovely country pub and the owners were more than happy for us to 'take away' our evening meal as trying to eat in the bar with 6 dogs would have been interesting to say the least. A short drive to smallsticks cafe(also dog friendly) and onto the beach where all 6 got to run around as it was quiet. Would we holiday at the crib again? Most definately yes all our hounds loved it, including our shy girl satin the galgo, who came out of her shell and is not so shy anymore. ”

- Sally Hickinson

“We stayed with our daughter and her husband and young son in Farthing cottage along with our 4 dogs. We noticed how clean everything was and perfectly enclosed garden for our dogs. Great walks in the village and nearby beaches. Close to all the places we wanted to take our grandson to as well. Tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits welcomed us and also a bottle of bubbly. Really nice touches. Games and things to keep adults and children entertained. Kitchen had everything you could need. Perfect! Had a really great time. Thank you.”

- Jackie and Martin Clarke

“RED ROOFS - Perfection! Just back from our first week there - there will be others! Great garden, great house, great location, just the norm for an East Ruston Cottage Holiday! Thank you! xxxx”

- Joan Lockett

“We have been on holiday courtesy of ERC many times. They are always helpful and friendly. Their properties are superb, and Victoria Cottage (where we stayed last week), is no exception. If you want real dog friendly holidays in North Norfolk - look no further”

- Fab holiday in Happisbirgh

“Just had a great 2 week stay at Red Roofs..........a fantastic location! 6 adults + 8 dogs, all totally chilled.!! The house lacks for nothing, very comfortable & homely, and with a massive dog proof back garden, we can all relax together.... Fabulous nearby beaches for dog walks, the broads for sailing/bird watching (2 hr boat trip by Norfolk Wildlife Trust was superb), 2 nearby pubs.....jobs a gud'un!! Here's to next time..”

- Paul & Christine Cartwright

“We spent a lovely week at Milestone Barn. Lovely accommodation and a perfect spot overlooking the countryside. Enclosed and safe garden for our dog. Really enjoyed our stay.”

- Sarah Groom

“Another fab break at Red Roofs, one of three of the East Ruston Cottages we have stayed at. We refer to East Ruston as 'super dog friendly' as they really go the extra mile for us dog owners. This time we had 5 dogs along with our extended family break and no extra charge for them hurrah!! Red Roofs is our particular favourite due to its wonderful location and access to the Hickling Broad for all things boaty! A huge garden which is super secure so no escapees! Even ordered our food shop online in advance and it was all received an put away before we arrived. Couldn't be better.”

- Sharon

“Hidden Gem truly lives up to its name, situated in a perfect location backing onto the dunes, walkable to the village shop, chip shop and dog friendly pub. A wonderful welcome pack for both humans and canines, a beautifully equipped cottage with every detail covered. We've been twice and will definitely come again, love this cottage. ”

- Melissa and Nick

“We have just had a week in Farthing Cottage. We can't fault the property. I had expectations that it might be a bit 'dog eared' on account that so many dogs visit, but nothing could be further than the truth. It was spotless and the array of dog accessories could have meant I need not have packed the car with so many dog bits, but saying that I do prefer to use my own stuff but I am sure many people would be thrilled to not have to pack for their dogs too. Everything has been thought of and I'm sure if someone did think of something missing that it would be provided the next time they visited. We cooked in house all but the last day and found everything we needed. As I am quite sensitive to chemicals and detergents the cleaner kindly double rinsed the bedding for me, and also took the initiative to switch off the plug in air freshners which I was greatly relieved off. But that was so thoughtful. The property is well placed for some amazing walks, and we also visited 'The Canoe Man' and took our two large dogs on the Broads in a canoe for an afternoon. We genuinely hope to return, I loved staying at Farthing Cottage.”

- Claire Bennett

“We arrived at Farthing Cottage not really knowing if the photos were going to have been misleading BUT! WOW! Absolutely perfect house with everything and more that we could possibly have needed! The dogs (all 4 of them) settled so quickly, they were clearly impressed by the treats and lovely dog beds that were waiting for them. As were we with the lovely cake and prosseco. The property was clean and tidy (not at all how non dog lovers would imagine a dog friendly holiday home) the beds were very comfy. Teenage son was very impressed by the tv in his room! The area is so dog friendly, I don’t just mean “the dog is allowed in the beer garden” kind of friendly but more like people say hi to the dogs before the humans!! The beaches were clean and inviting even the the dog friendly ones (didn’t come across a single mess!) from this review you’ll probably guess the kind of “dog friendly” holidays I’ve been on in the past. East Ruston offers over and above any other company I’ve used before and will most definitley be returning! ”

- Louise Barker

“Just returned from a fantastic, relaxing week at Hidden Gem in Winterton. Lovely cottage in brilliant location, 5 minutes away from beautiful dog friendly beach & village centre with shop, chip shop & dog friendly pub. Cottage perfect for 4 adults & 1 dog & was very well equipped & very clean & tidy. Loved the welcome pack, especially the homemade cake, and the homemade dog biscuits went down very well! Definitely the best cottage we've stayed in, dogs very welcome, would recommend to anyone. Will definitely be coming back.”

- Kevin Anson

“St Benets is an ideal location for superb coastal walks with your dogs. 10 of our family stayed here with 5 dogs between us. It's clean and spacious with all amenities and many extras to make you feel welcome and at home. It's only a stone's throw from the beach and the dogs were fascinated by the seals swimming close to the shore. Highly recommended 👍.”

- Sarah Wigley

“Had a fabulous stay at The Lodge with my 2 dogs. Perfect location for lovely walk. Beautiful accommodation all mod cons, already booked for next year.”

- Julie Reading

“I recently stayed at Farthing Cottage with my two dogs and was joined at the end of the week by my god-daughter and her 4 year old. The cottage was perfect for dogs and children, it was anbsolute delight to stay in a true ‘dog friendly’ property with no list waiting for you of what you could/couldn’t do ... the dog beds, blankets, bowls and toys all made for an easy stay. The garden was completely secure, a huge bonus in the hot weather as it meant I could leave the back door open without worrying about my older dogs Houdini tendencies! The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything you could wish for, I can’t recommend highly enough, thank-you Sue.”

- Anna Beadman

“We have just returned from White Cottage in Happisburgh with our 3 dogs. Our daughter joined us for a couple of days with our 3 Granddaughters and their dog. The cottage is lovely, we can't think of anything that could have been done to improve our holiday. It is a a perfect cottage for dogs, adults and children. Lovely big garden for the dogs and children and lots of space indoors. A real bonus was the games room in the garden with table tennis and table football. The girls loved it! Milo the 16 month old Tibetan Terrier liked zooming round the garden, then claiming the raised dog bed, which he loved, while the 3 old dogs enjoyed just laying in the shade of the trees. Would recommend to old and young and would love to come back one day. ”

- Jackie and Mike Rowley

“My sister and I have just had a very pleasant stay at The Lodge together with our four dogs. It's a lovely bright and airy cottage with a patio area and fully enclosed garden. The owners provide everything you could possibly need and a lovely welcome pack on arrival. There is a wheelchair ramp up to the cottage and a wet room type shower. It is all on one level and far nicer inside than the photos of the outside suggest. This was our second stay and we hope to go again in the early part of next year. It's only a short walk to the Weavers way footpath, approx 3 miles to Stalham with Tesco and many other shops and ten minutes drive to the beach. There are so many places to visit within 30 minutes drive including several dog friendly pubs, riverside walks, the Norfolk Broads and Bacton Woods. it really is a lovely area to visit.”

- Sue Jones

“We've just returned from a lovely stay at Corner Cottage in Happisburgh. Earlier in the year we stayed at Farthing Cottage in Trunch. We have never stayed at such dog friendly cottages and cannot recommend them enough! The customer service is excellent from Sue too. We look forward to booking another cottage in the near future. ”

- Kirsty Gardner

“Red Roofs Unfortunately my husband and I were not able to go on holiday, but our son and daughter went to Red Roofs, and were very impressed. They thought that the owners/ East Ruston cottages had got everything right! The cottage and gardens were perfect for dogs and their owners! In fact, they declared it, the Best cottage we had ever rented! Definitely dog friendly. It would be great if they could extend their properties to other parts of The country! ”

- Jean Butterworth

“Orchard Cottage Happisburgh Our third stay at this perfect Cottage which at's it all really. We love it's homely and welcoming atmosphere and appreciate the owners' attention to detail and high standard of cleanliness. Fabulous welcome treats are always much appreciated too! Everything that you or your dogs could possibly need is provided. We and our dogs love spending time in the gorgeous garden and the dogs also love the cool tiled floor to sleep on in the heat. Happisburgh is a lovely village with lots going on. Having now stayed at 8 East Ruston Cottages, we can thoroughly recommend Sue and ERC.”

- Anne Hudson

- John Bobin

“This is our fourth visit to East Ruston Cottages, of which three have been spent at Holmes House. A lovely situation right next to Weavers Way and lots of safe walks for the dogs. The garden is fully fenced so the dogs can be let out without any worry. The owner is extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. There was a delicious welcome pack waiting for us on arrival with homemade biscuits for the dogs. I can thoroughly recommend this home for anyone with dogs. Sue Wright ”

- SUSAN WRIGHT

“Just returned from a weeks stay at Hidden Gem and that is exactly what it is. We were a party of 2 humans and 2 dogs. There was everything you could Think of. Spare throws, dog leads, dog bedding, crates and bowls. So no need to worry if you had forgotten anything. The cottage is 2 bedroom and spotless. Just a 5 minute walk over the dunes to the beautiful beach. Had a fab time and highly recommend. ”

- Jo Killaspy

“We have used East Ruston Cottages 3 times now and they are an excellent dog friendly accommodation provider. The cottages we have stayed in are all immaculately maintained and most importantly for us are very dog friendly. Highly recommend!”

- Lynne

“We have just returned from our week at Hidden Gem in Winterton. And what a Gem the cottage is, just perfect. Comfortable and so well equipped and very dog friendly. We loved it, it was so relaxing. The location is great, with the dunes from your back door for many lovely walks. When we arrived there was a lovely welcome pack, with lovely homemade cake. The dogs loved the biscuits and had to buy some more to take home. We loved our weeks holiday and will be returning to Hidden Gem. ”

- Peggy Searl

“Thatchers, Happisburgh - just had a wonderful weeks holiday at this beautiful house with huge gardens - very dog friendly and close to great beaches and walks x”

- Emily Plastow

“Had a fantastic week at Corner Cottage with my friend and our 4 dogs. There is nothing in the house that they have forgotten. Lovely walks on the beach and in the countryside and with the weather being a little cold a nice log burner in the lounge. Can’t fault these properties, going again later in the year, to another of their cottages and have also booked again for next year. ”

- Joyce Turvey

“We have had a wonderful week at Orchard Cottage, greeted by cakes, strawberries and doggie treats, I can honestly say that both cottage and area are the most dog friendly we have ever stayed in. Every desire both human and canine are catered for within the cottage and a huge secure garden to sit out and play in. Beautiful dog friendly beaches and pub/restaurants, one being just a couple of minutes walk away with biscuits at the ready for the girls !! Can't recommend highly enough, especially for multi dog families. ”

- Carolyn and Qamar

“We stayed at Midthatch last week and had a wonderful time. The cottage was delightful with stunning views and located in a very peaceful town. The walks were right there and we were on the dog friendly beach within minutes what more could you want. We travelled a little further on a couple of days too for even more walks and the journey by car was lovely, easy with beautiful scenery all the way. Our three dogs loved the garden and settled in very quickly. ”

- Rebecca Harrison

“Gorgeous, spacious, well equipped and perfectly located. Huge secure garden, and so quiet!! Just come back from our second stay and already booked our third. Highly recommended.”

- Andy Day

“Corner Cottage 29th April -4th May 2018 We arrived on a cold evening to a wonderfully warm cottage.Having said that we still made use of the fabulous wood burning stove. The cottage was exceptionally clean and had absolutely everything we could have possibly wanted for our stay. The level of fixtures, fittings and furniture was great as was the bed linen and towels. The welcome basket of goodies for us with biscuits for our fur babies, beds, balls and toys really made our stay perfect.”

- Diane Trevarthen

“We have just returned from a wonderful 3 week stay at Orchard Cottage in Happisburgh with our two whippets. We regularly take cottages for 3 weeks and, as it’s then our home for an extended time, our requirements are a little bit different from those who go just for a week. We need not have worried, the cottage had everything we could have wished for (except perhaps a tumble drier) and was simply the most dog-friendly accommodation we have ever stayed in. We always take throws for the furniture but Leonie and Pete provide throws, doggy towels, bowls, etc. There was even a bag of locally made dog biscuits. The furniture and beds were really comfortable and the hard flooring made life so easy. We were welcomed with the most amazing homemade cupcakes and strawberries. Then for week 2 it was chocolate cakes and week 3 a Victoria Sponge! As we were lucky enough to be there for the first real sun of the year we made the most of the sun loungers in the garden. There is no restriction on the number of dogs allowed and they can go upstairs - excellent for clingy whippets! Although sadly the local beach wasn’t accessible due to high tides taking away the ramp down, others were a very easy short drive away. The nearby farm shop and local seafood shop were fantastic. Happy days and highly recommended. ”

- Dawn Melloy

“6 of us stayed with our 6 dogs at Red Roofs Cottage in April and we cannot wait to return! The cottage offered plenty of space both inside and out, with a huge (and I mean, HUGE) garden for the hairy kids to run around and play, as well as everything we could possibly need inside the property. There are two lovely pubs within walking distance and and beautiful walks from the doorstep. We can't recommend Red Roofs & East Ruston Cottages highly enough, and have not stopped boasting about our amazing trip to family and friends since we got back. ”

- Natalie Stevenson

“Fantastic stay at The Old Piggery. 4 adults and two children, plus 4 dogs and we all had a great time! So easy with the dogs and so incredibly dog friendly, I have never seen anywhere like it and am so thrilled to have found it! Couldn’t recommend it highly enough! We will most definitely be back!”

- Rebecca

“Just come back from a week at The Old Piggery East Rushton (17-24 March 18). I took two little dogs who were really well catered for. When this accommodation says Dogs Welcome, it truly means Dogs Welcome. Dogs can go on the sofa and the beds, just put a throw on the furniture....and throws are provided! There isn't the usual list of Dogs are welcome but could you not let them do this or do that. If you forget to take something for your dogs, it's probably there! The humans are taken care of too; three double rooms if that is how you want them set up, two bathrooms (one en suite), kitchen is well equipped and there are so many DVD's. Highly Recommend this property!!!”

- Sarah Scott

“Just spent a week with the dogs at St Benets in Sea Palling. A superb clean, comfortable and well equipped property. A lovely town house where all rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated yet maintaining a warm and cosy cottage feel. Great enclosed garden no concerns about escapees. So incredibly dog friendly, supplying bowls, throws, poo bags etc, etc even home made dog treats included in the tasty welcome pack. Fabulous location - 2 or 3 minutes from the beach. Everyone has dogs! All round a memorable break will look forward to returning soon.”

- Virginia Glassington-Murray

“We have just returned having spent 10 days in Heather Cottage, we had lots of snow and power cuts, but the cottage was warm and welcoming. It was the first time Willow and Bryn had seen the snow they had great fun. John and Sue so helpful offering to take us shopping in the 4x4 if needed. I am going to recommend the cottage to all my friends and family.”

- Linda Mellows

“We have just returned from a lovely week at White cottage ,sadly our friends couldn't make it so it was just the two of us and our 2 dogs ,but there would have been plenty of room for us all ,the cottage is truly a home from home all modern conveniences ,spotlessly clean ,lovely welcome pack, wonderful garden and great location for exploring the surrounding area. We have been visiting this part of Norfolk for about 5 years now but this was our first booking with East Ruston Cottages ,but will most definitely not be the last. We normally holiday as a party of 4 to 6 adults and 4 dogs and truly appreciate this area ,the local businesses and in particular East Ruston Cottages attitudes to holidaying with our beloved dogs. We are very much looking forward to booking again soooooooon ”

- stuart & sue letch

“Just returned from a week at the Crib. Gorgeous 3 bedroom cottage in Happisburgh, warm, comfortable and beautifully decorated, very comfy beds with good quality bedding. Truly dog friendly, lots of dog towels, toys and even holiday tags. Wonderful walks from the door and nice big fully enclosed garden. A week really wasn't long enough.”

- Michelle Allen

“We have just stayed at Running Hare Barn, there were 10 adults and 6 dogs and plenty of room for everyone. Stunning Barn, very clean and very well equipped. There are lovely beaches very close by and its the perfect place for a gathering with friends. We have also stayed at Walnut Farm and again we would recommend that as well. Thank you Sue for running a great portfolio of properties.”

- Sue Cain

“Orchard Cottage in Happisburgh - what a great find. Leonie has thought of everything. Four adults and six dogs had the most fantastic holiday. Cottage was larger than we thought, very well equipped, warm and comfortable. The garden is totally secure for the dogs and dog bowls, throws, dog beds, crates and even a ball thrower all available for use. On our arrival we found fresh flowers, homemade cakes, milk and hand made dog biscuits waiting for us. Everything we could of hoped for and more. We would highly recommend this holiday home. Fabulous location with many walks available from cottage with lots to do in the area. Suggest a Sunday carvery at Happisburgh Halt, all beaches are lovely but a long walk along Holkham beach and an early morning walk on Happisburgh beach where at least one seal keeps you company were highlights. Also highly recommend a visit to Happusburgh Owls for a fantastic experience.”

- Helen Hollis

“We used East Ruston Cottages at the weekend and they were 5*! Booking the break was seemless and the Crib Cottage was amazing! It was beautiful, spacious, very clean and they provided spare leads, bowls, blankets, beds, cage, poo bags, treats and Lots more! We will definitely be using East Rushton Cottages again.”

“Stayed at The Lodge beginning of December. What a great place! Exceptionally clean and tidy. Very warm and cosy with everything included that you may need. The welcome basket is a lovely touch with hand made biscuits for the dogs. Great walks straight from the door onto the Weavers Way, or a very short drive to lovely sandy beaches. Thankyou Jo and John.”

“The lodge in East Rushton just had a lovely relaxing week staying in the lodge. Beautiful, idyllic and cosy. Close to beaches and shops. Wheelchair accessible if needed with ramps and wet room enclosed garden and just round the corner minutes away from weavers way lovely walk in the country with your dogs. Can’t wait to go back see you all soon.”

- Judith winrow

“We have visited and enjoyed East Ruston Cottages venues so many times in recent years. We have been visiting Happisburgh for 50+ yrs to Manor Park caravan site, but only Summertime. So, The Piggery/Holmes House and The Lodge have provided us with relaxing/cosy places to visit in Wintertime. Our dogs love Norfolk to find rabbits etc to chase in another County! Recommend any East Ruston Cottage venue - all are dog friendly/welcoming and secure. Kate and Richard. Leics.😋”

- Richard & Kate Trueman

“We stayed at Badgers Retreat for a week, a lovely clean and cosy cottage with a great garden for dogs and humans. Craig the owner was really friendly and welcoming. The cottage is in a really peaceful location with a great view from the lounge window. Its super dog friendly as are a lot of the pubs and cafes in the area, would totally recommend this cottage, we had a great holiday.”

- Alison Barry & Beau

“Exceptional! Stayed twice now at the Old Piggery, and tried to rebook for next November. ALL BOOKED UP!!!, which just underlines how fantastic the properties are which East Ruston cottages have on their books. We thought we might try and find something nearer home for next year.....there is absolutely nothing which is so geared up for dog owners, particularly those with more than 3 dogs. Last year we took 6, this year we took 5. It is just so relaxing as you don,t have to worry what your dogs are doing.....totally enclosed and safe yard, loads of gear: mats, towels, throws (so that the hairiest can share the seats!), Bowls, toys etc etc....but this doesn't,mean that we have been downgraded because of dog hair! Far from it. The accommodation is spotless, comfortable and warm. Doggy and human heaven! Thank you Sue & Dermot, and all the other participants, homeowners, cleaners at eastrustoncottages Looks like we may be returning to Norfolk next year, but trying another one for your fab cottages, though we,will have to be quick to book. ”

- John & Nicky Burns

“We have stayed in badgers retreat twice, Beautiful, cosy, clean and super dog friendly, dogs are treated as an extra guest, dog treats and spare dog bowls provided, dogs allowed on sofa (as long as you use the throws they provide) many near by attractions/pubs dog friendly and some of the most amazing beaches you could wish for. Also very reasonably priced”

- Dawn Gould

“Stayed at the Old Piggery. Wow, what a perfect house for a holiday with dogs (we had 11 between us) or even without. Very warm and comfortable and our every need was catered for, from a well stocked kitchen, good quality and comfortable bed and bedding, dog beds and toys and a superb welcome pack, will certainly be going back when I can. ”

- Michelle Allen

“Have recently returned from a wonderful week at The Lodge. Beautifully presented, so comfortable and everything you could need for a lovely holiday. I found the position close to lots of lovely beaches which the dogs so enjoyed and Bacton Woods was also a favourite. It’s so nice to feel that the dogs are actually welcome. Thank you”

- Julie Mccoy

“First time staying in an East Ruston Property and it won’t be our last! We stayed in Orchard Cottage, it was clean, comfortable and 100% dog friendly! A perfect base to explore the beaches and lovely villages of Norfolk. Would definitely recommend! ”

- Victoria Farrand

“Spent four nights in Wind In The Willows Shepherd’s Caravan. Simple, quiet bliss. There were two of us humans and Bella our Goldie. Lovely secure garden to sit out in, and even though there’s no TV, WiFi or mobile signal, that just enhanced the experience. The caravan was warm and cosy and the bed super comfy. Very reluctant to leave but real life had to be returned to! I’d recommend staying here if you really want to chill and de-stress.”

- John Thomson

“Had a fantastic week at Rooster Barn. I can thoroughly recommend the whole holiday experience there - the Barn was lovely and the dogs loved the garden. There are many local walks as well as glorious beaches nearby. ”

- Angela Inskip

“Just spent a fantastic week at Running Hare Barn, this was our 5th time of staying at one of ERC. There were 7 adults and 2 greys for most of the week as we were celebrating an 80th birthday. We were given a warm welcome by Sue and Dermot the owners who have done a tremendous job in the renovation of this Eco friendly barn. This barn just keeps on giving, furnished and equipt to such a high standard so comfortable and homely and the front garden and yard were excellent for our hounds, very safe and secure. Lovely setting with great walks along lanes and fields with very little traffic, heaven. Also only a short drive to our favourite beach at Happisburgh, always managed to get parked on the road adjacent to the road that leads to the beach. Hope to be back soon. Forgot to mention the huge welcome pack, lovely things for humans and hounds to enjoy. ”

- Beverley Bratby

“We had a great time in the East Ruston area, using it as a good base to walk weavers way, go to stalham, wroxham, happisburgh and horsey gap. The location and accommodation are great and the has everything you need to make you feel welcomed in this country cottage and Craig and Susan alway give you a warm welcome. We visited Burgers at the Beach after seeing the posts on the East Ruston Cottages Facebook page and would recommend a visit, as well as trip to poppyfields after seeing the seals at horsey gap.”

- Tony Lake

“ Hidden Gem Had a great weeks stay at this lovely terraced cottage backing up onto the miles of brilliant sand dunes of Winterton-on-Sea. The cottage was very clean, welcoming and tastefully decorated throughout and the layout comfortably accommodated 4 adults and 3 dogs. As part of the East Ruston cottages portfolio these cottages are really dog friendly with everything thoughtfully included for an enjoyable stay for both humans and dogs. With dog suitable floors and miles of walks on the sand dunes and beaches, local shops, a dog friendly pub a couple of minutes away and the Broads close-by, this is definitely a welcoming Gem of a place to stay. Highly recommend. ”

- Lynne Walker

“Just back from a great week in Daisy Cottage. Perfect position for endless walks /play on one of the best beaches I’ve seen.(end of road ? Cottage was warm & clean with great extras for humans and our 2 dogs. Comfy pooch beds upstairs and down & our beds were comfy too. We used both bedrooms as we are used to larger beds so it was peaceful from snoring!! We had warmish weather for October so did not need to light the log fires that must make it heaven in colder months. A bonus for holidaying in October was we were able to park outside cottage. Good local shop 2mins away. ”

- June Sparrow

“Just arrived back from a week at Red Roofs along with my two sisters, their husbands and my nephew. Our party also included 7 hounds so a secure garden was a necessity. Not only was the garden totally dog safe but it was large enough for them all to have a wonderful week of running and playing to their hearts content. Meanwhile the house was very comfortable, plenty of space for us to spread out and with wonderful views of Hickling Broads. It was so peaceful and relaxing but with lots to do if we felt the urge to be out and about. We asked that the dinghy be made available and had great fun, I think we kept the neighbours entertained too! Jane provided a lovely welcome pack plus lots of information on places to visit both with and without our dogs. Our second stay in an East Ruston property and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for dog friendly accommodation with a good selection of cottages and houses to suit all tastes. So refreshing to find properties welcoming more than one/two small, well behaved dogs!”

- Denise McG

“Mid Thatch - we have just spent a great week at this lovely character cottage in Sea Palling. It was so relaxing and we would definitely recommend it. The enclosed garden was perfect for our 2 german shepherds and a real sun trap for the humans to sit out and enjoy the sun. Oh and the bed was so comfy! The cottage is a short walk from the dog friendly beach, a shop and a dog friendly pub - what more could you ask!”

- Claire Phillips

“Just back from a weeks stay at St Benets Sea Palling. The house was amazing, its very comfortable and roomy. Our family of 5 plus our two Border Collies stayed, everyone had plenty of space. We all slept well as the beds were extremely comfortable . We liked the two bathrooms the beach /sea side themes were lovely. The kitchen was well supplied with all you could want for making a simple breakfast to cooking a full Sunday roast everything was there. The garden was fully enclosed so children and dogs have somewhere safe to play. St Benets is only a five minute walk to the beach which is enjoyed by the two legged and four legged members of our family. Its a beautiful beach you can walk along the length of it (its a very long one) ,or sit down and enjoy the views out to sea. Met lots of nice friendly people on the beach who were there walking their dogs. The people in the Arcade and the chippy were very helpful and informative about the local area, and the hot chocolate and marshmallows and cream was lovely. Looking for a great place to stay give St Benets a try.”

- Lesley Ann Brett

“I've just returned from a week at Rooster Barn in Trunch with my 2 dogs and quite honestly, you'd be hard pressed to find a more stunning barn conversion for a holiday. A brilliant base to explore the Norfolk coast & beaches, woods, lovely dog-friendly pubs - everything you could want. The barn itself was so well equipped, the garden lovely and secure for the dogs to run around and a fabulous welcome pack for humans and dogs - the hosts have thought of everything. “We've just had an amazing week at Running Hare Barn. 8 adults and 9 dogs. It really is the most perfect property to stay in. Everything has been done to such a high standard but at the same time it's so comfortable and homely. A real credit to Sue and Dermot who have lovingly renovated it. We really didn't want to come home x”

- Sue Hunt

“What a wonderful week we have had in this little taste of paradise called Holmes House! The cottage is just perfect, we love the location being quiet for our pack of monsters, the garden has been amazing for them to run free and play in the glorious weather we were blessed with! Loved the walks from the gate and how quiet it all is, it really has been perfect wouldnt change a thing :) Will most certainly be back in fact deposit is already paid for next year!”

- Kate Bryson

“Another wonderful ERC stay - this time at Rooster Barn in Trunch. The owners have created a lovely home from home with everything we needed for a relaxing break. Very clean and well looked after. Our older Jack/Westie cross and Bichon Frise thoroughly enjoyed exploring the sniffs in the large grassed garden and the patio area; both fenced and safe. The welcome pack for both dogs and humans was huge and much appreciated by all. This is a good location with lots of lovely beaches and walks, all within a short drive. Another property we would love to come back to in the future. ”

“We have just returned from a great weeks holiday at Badgers Retreat, East Ruston, Norfolk. This was a truly dog friendly property with a large, well tended, secure garden for our lively Cocker Spaniel Molly. Susan and Craig were brilliant hosts offering excellent advice on the area, places to go etc. During our stay I hosted my birthday party for my Norfolk relatives and Susan and Craig were a great help in facilitating the additional parking, seating etc for 15 guests. Its a great area for dog walks - Weavers Way on the doorstep and fantastic beaches all along the coast. I will be returning and have no hesitation in recommending Badgers Retreat. ”

- Glyn Lemmons

“The most dog friendly place we have stayed, Running Hare Barn is absolutely fabulous. My wife, 2 daughters and their husbands had our first family holiday together at this very special place. The layout of the Barn was great as we had a floor each, Katie and Mike on the ground floor with Seb their 2 year old Labrador, Laura and James on the first floor, and Sue and I on the top floor. Everything we could possibly need had been thought of and provided including, dog bed, throws for the chairs, towels for the dog among lots of other very useful items. However the best thing ever was the outside shower for the dog, this proved very useful after Seb rolled in a very large fresh cow pat!!! The dog friendly beaches nearby are ideal for long or shorts walks, with friendly pubs dotted around. This was our first holiday together in this area but will definitely not be the last. Running Hare Barn will always be our first choice and we are all looking forward to returning in the very near future. Thank you Sue and Dermot.”

- Colin Simmons

“Stayed at the piggery at East Ruston. Fabulous holiday from start to finish. The piggery is very well equipped, everything has been thought of, for humans and dogs too! It feels like home to minute you step through the door! There are beautiful walks just out of the front door, around the lanes and fields. Great for dogs. The garden at the back is secure, no worries about dogs escaping! The beaches are amazing and dog friendly. There is plenty of information about places to visit and on dog friendly pubs! We enjoyed our holiday here very much and will definitely return!”

- Sally mason

“Just had a wonderful week at The Lodge. It's a lovely warm and comfortable cottage suitable for a wheelchair user with some independent ability. There is a wet room with shower stool. It's very bright and airy and has a secure back garden with access from the lounge and bedroom. I have an escape artist papillon and he didn't get out. There is easy access to Weavers Way and several beaches only a short drive away. The cottage has parking for three cars. The owners were away last week but we were ably assisted by Jo's mother who looked after us very well. We hope to return with some friends next year. Well next week would be nice but funds won't permit!”

- Sue Jones

A wonderful cottage garden long & winding to the end & dog & bee friendly. Thankyou for the goodies for us too. I would say it has to be one of the best places to stay in Sea Palling.”

- Sue & Les P

“We have just returned from a week at Thatchers Cottage celebrating a 50th birthday. What a wonderful property. Both adults and dogs just loved the garden, loved all the beautiful beaches and can't wait to come back again. The welcome pack of flowers, cake, fudge, tea, coffee, milk, poo bags and Prosecco was perfect and very much appreciated. Can't fault the property at all - spacious, comfy bedrooms, lovely bathrooms and so much space. One suggestion would be to have more cosy seating in both the snug and sitting room. We will certainly be back again.”

“Think this is our 5th year of visiting Red Roofs - ticks all our boxes! Such a lovely comfortable house in a great location with fab gardens and a completely dog-proof back garden. Can't wait for the next visit.”

- Colin the greyhound

“We visited Oak Cottage in East Ruston last week. Fantastic cottage and very well equipped. The beds were really comfy and we appreciate the lovely welcome pack (eggs, cake, scones, jiuce, jam, fudge). We really enjoyed spending time at the cottage and the dogs loved the freedom of the large garden. We used the brilliant warm dog shower after a day at the beach. There are loads of dog friendly places to go and eat in the area- we will definitely come again. ”

- Patricia

“Heather Cottage in Happisburgh is perfect. We had a lovely stay with our three Australian Cattledogs, everything provided, very comfortable and secure. The beach was within walking distance, which we enjoyed every morning. Plenty of fabulous places to visit, and good pubs and cafes to eat out. We really enjoyed our stay”

- Wendy Broughton

“The most stress free holiday with dogs we have ever had. Everything is dog friendly and all dog stuff is there for you what more can you ask. Wonderful recommendations food, beaches, activities Sue at East Ruston Cottages is so helpful Can't recommend enough”

- Jackie H

“We had a fab stay at the "Wind in the Willows" shepards hut in East Runton, we stayed with our 2 year old terror sorry terrier. The welcome we got from Craig was really great, pointed us in the right direction for walks and places to visit, truly dog friendly enviroment. If you are looking for a nice break with your dog then look no further! 10 out of 10”

- Mark & Sonya Goulding

“Perfect holiday at Hidden Gem - miles of dunes and empty sandy beaches right from the back door - loved it so much we've booked again ! Four very happy tired dogs loved it too”

- Dee McF

“We have just returned from a week in St Benets at Sea Palling. Our second holiday in an East Ruston Cottage and it didn't disappoint. A great property in a fantastic location. The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Upon arrival we were left a few 'goodies' for us and the dogs, very much appreciated. Three generations of us and we all had a great week...Thankyou, we will be back!”

- Andrea French

“Great location Doggy heaven 😎”

- Gary Jackman

“Daisy Cottage - We have just returned from the best holiday we have had with our dogs, what a delight to find not only a great dog friendly place - Sea Palling - with a great dog friendly beach, but the cottage we stayed in, I have never felt so welcome, everything catered for dog and owner to have the best time ever and we had 7 dogs with us and we all had the most relaxing time ever. We loved it so much we booked for next year before we had even left. Thank you very much so glad we found you. ”

- Carole Tappenden

“White Cottage - Happisburgh My mum and I have just had a whole, relaxing week at this cottage with my ESSxLab Poppy and Pommie, Isha. It was fantastic to have somewhere safe for the dogs to run in the garden, no neighbours to worry about our impromptu singing sessions, beautiful accommodation, clean and well cared for and most importantly, everything you needed for the dogs was already provided (except food of course). Already booked for next year. Sue Allen who manages the cottages was extremely helpful and a mine of information. ”

- Helen & Kathleen

“Just returned from a fantastic relaxing week at Red Roofs, everything is very laid back as far as dog ownership is concerned, no over restriction on where and what dogs can do. Rear garden is more like a paddock, our Shar Pei Buddy felt confused by the size of it and being totally escape proof, so no worries about escape, neighbours very friendly as well. Beautiful views from front windows, would love to wake up to it everyday. Would strongly recommend Sue Allen's, East Ruston Cottages Co. such a friendly and pleasant attitude towards an otherwise cut throat business.”

- Ray Ludlow

“We have not long returned from staying at Corner Cottage. This isn't the first time we have used East Ruston Cottages for our holidays, and once again, we weren't disappointed. The cottage was immaculate, and was literally just like a home from home. All the facilities that you need/want are in the house. The cottage is also ideally situated for travelling around Norfolk, and is only a very short drive to Happisburgh Lighthouse and beach. We went with two friends and three dogs, and having a secure garden meant we could leave the dogs at the cottage and go down to the very lovely Star Inn for our food and refreshments. We would thoroughly recommend using East Ruston Cottages for your holiday, and they are just so dog friendly. Garvan and Heather”

- Garvan McCafferty

“What can I say? At last! Truly dog friendly holiday cottages! Having spent far too many holidays unable to let my dogs off lead except when in the cottage due to the so-called secure garden being anything but, it was refreshing to be able to relax and not have to worry about this. And no more restrictions - we've 4 dogs, which pretty much rules out just about every other 'dog friendly' cottage holiday company we've ever come across, so to be able to take all ours with us has been fabulous and how it should be. After all, if we had children, no one would be expecting us to restrict our numbers! And what a charming area - we'd never holidayed there before and it's beautiful. A fab dog-friendly beach at Happisburgh and lovely walks 100 yards from Holmes Cottage along Weavers Way. Bliss - thank you. We've already booked for the next couple of years!”

- Julie Holt

“Have just returned from a week at the Old Piggery and we couldn't fault it. Equipped to a high standard for both humans and hounds, it had a wonderful homely feel. The welcome pack is such a lovely idea, again catering for hounds and humans alike. It's so lovely to find a holiday home that doesn't just tolerate dogs, but positively welcomes them with the provision of an enclosed garden space, toys, beds, throws for furniture, spare lead, poo bags, feeding bowls, etc, and doesn't charge extra, however many dogs you bring. The underfloor heating made for a constantly cosy feel, and although firewood is provided for the wood burner, we didn't need to light it once. The situation is rural and peaceful, despite being on a 'junction' as the roads are quiet country lanes. This eco-friendly property is particularly suited to dog owners, especially those with some mobility issues as it is all on one level once inside. There are, however, a couple of steps down to the back door entrance and one out to the enclosed courtyard garden, but no stairs or raised thresholds within. All in all a wonderfully welcoming, greyhound(and other dog)-friendly property where no extra charge is made for canine family members, however many you bring - doggy holiday heaven! ”

- Marina Povey

“Badgers Retreat was small but very cosy and welcoming. The lovely secure garden was an unexpected bonus. A great place for the dogs with plenty of enjoyable walks and comfortable pubs nearby.”

- Karen Dunn

“It's not easy to relax when you are travelling with a spaniel who thinks she is human and is anxious of other dogs, a Romanian rescue dog who has trust issues with strangers and a very excitable terrier. East Ruston gave us a little oasis of peace and time to enjoy quality time as a family. From my first e-mail, Sue was very reassuring and rather than present me with rules and regulations she assured me that the dogs would be welcome and then patiently managed my disorganised approach to booking! Rooster Barn was the perfect choice for us and beautifully presented. We felt completely at home and had everything we needed plus a whole lot more.....the beds were super comfortable to! We cannot thank you enough for the thoughtful little extras, especially the welcome pack containing not only the essentials but also delicious homemade treats for us and the dogs. The local information was very helpful to, we came with no plan but loved exploring this unspoilt part of the country. Our first visit but certainly not our last, we were very sad to leave. Thank you to everyone involved I'm making it such a lovely break.”

- Gemma Bourne

“Thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Old Piggery. Clean, comfortable and cosy. Lovely position close to the coast but out of the way enough to be quiet and peaceful...no traffic noise for a whole week, bliss. Poppy dog settled in straight away and enjoyed her welcome pack! It was our first stay with East Ruston cottages but we booked again for next year as soon as we got home. Would recommend to everyone, such welcoming accommodation and a very dog friendly area of Norfolk. It really was a home from home, thank you.”

- Mandy Stack

“We love East Rushton Cottages and always choose them for holidays with our dog. We have just got home from another week at The Lodge which is very comfortable, cosy and clean with wonderful walks on the beaches and in the woods nearby.”

- Maggie

“Just stayed at The Old Piggery for a week and had a relaxing and comfortable week. The beaches are superb and the sight of thousands of seals on Horsey beach was amazing. Norwich is a lovely city to visit. The local pubs were happy to accomodate our dog as was the boat at Wroxham for a trip on the broads. We couldn't ask for more from the skies at night and the peace and quiet to the treats left for us and Lulu the dog.I think other self catering cottages could learn a lot from the East Ruston Cottages approach.”

- Karen Deer

“The perfect holiday for you and your dogs, we stayed at Thatchers a wonderful garden our 3 dogs just loved. Fabulous comfortable accommodation in a stunning house. We were made to feel so welcome by the owner. The local pubs all dog friendly and lovely beaches to run on. 10 out of 10 😃🐾🐶”

- Sandra Cook

“As always ERC delivers high quality, beyond dog friendly places to stay! We absolutely adored White Cottage and Happisburgh, that before we had even left we asked to book for next year! The beach is an easy walk away (tiny bit of scary road first! About 100m no path). Our two bedlingtons loved the walks along the beach, and there are lots of places to visit within a short drive on normal roads (those with the white lines in the middle). Thanks Sue and team!”

- Laura Gray

“We have friends who have stayed at Holmes house, and we visited during their stay. We were so impressed we decided to book our selves in for this year, but were unable to get the week we wanted so booked Orchard Cottage in Happisburgh instead. From the home made cakes we found waiting for us on arrival, to the stunning attention to detail in the cottage itself, you would be hard pressed to find anywhere as perfect.”

- Graham Farrow

“We have just spent a wonderful 4 days at Farthing Cottage, super dog friendly and excellent accommodation. Just wish there were more properties like this around the country. Cannot praise the East Ruston Cottages highly enough”

- Peter Troutt

“We have been staying with East Ruston Cottages since we adopted our rescue dog 5 years ago. Having enjoyed a long stay over Christmas, we were delighted to return to White Cottage for a pre-birthday celebration as a result of a last minute cancellation (a rare event!) White Cottage and East Ruston Cottages sets a high standard of care and consideration to dogs and their owners that other cottage owners should take note of. We self cater at least three times a year in the UK in different areas and this place is one of the most dogs welcome we've been to. One of the most frustrating elements of booking a holiday is checking that it’s dog friendly with a secure garden and then arriving to find that the garden has gaps or the fence is 3ft at best, or the dog has to stay downstairs. This is not the case in this cottage and I have always appreciated the honest details that Sue provides on her website about all the houses she manages. Agencies need to learn from East Ruston Cottages and I constantly cite them as a great example of a trustworthy company. The garden is very secure with two sets of gates from the roadway to keep dogs extra safe, there are no rules about dogs not being allowed upstairs or on furniture – providing you use a throw it’s all okay and even better, throws are provided! Dog bowls are also supplied if you them, plus a crate and spare leads. What we loved was that although Storm Doris had struck the week before and blown down a fence panel, this had been fixed with strong high wire fencing which was much appreciated. We've booked again for Christmas 2018 and are returned to another cottage on our grand tour of East Ruston Cottages. Thank you. ”

- Berenice

“We've just had the most wonderful week at Rooster Barn, one of the properties with East Ruston Cottages. Apart from being a beautiful barn and very, very comfortable and toasty with the underfloor heating, it was just lovely to go somewhere with our dogs. It truly is VERY dog friendly - everything is thought through for the dogs AND the owners. Scrupulously clean! And loved the welcome goodies for dogs and humans! ”

- Jane Eaton

“Just back from a long weekend at Walnut Farm House, it was our 4th visit. Its a lovely farmhouse, very well equipped, lots of room and very clean. There is a nice dog walk around the fields which is well signposted. Its only a short drive to either Sea Palling or Winterton to visit the beach. ”

- Sue Cain

“I've just returned from a week at Corner Cottage and can honestly say it's the best holiday cottage I've ever stayed in. From the minute we walked in we felt immediately at home as it had all the comforts of home and then some. It was equipped very thoughtfully and to an excellent standard. Like all of East Ruston cottages, it is totally dog friendly and it's wonderful to be able to take quite a few dogs away on holiday. We will definitely be returning in the future! ”

- Alison Stephenson

“Just stayed at Running Hare Barn for a week. This is a stunning property, and totally dog friendly. Great enclosed courtyard - a real sun trap, and the outdoor warm doggy shower is just perfect for hosing off sand after fun on the beach! Lovely walks right from the doorstep. We could not have asked for better facilities or location - a brilliant holiday. This is a gem of a find! ”

- Michelle Mean

“We stayed in Corner Cottage for a week. It was a really lovely cosy place with so much thought having been put into making our stay so wonderful. There are many lovely walks nearby coastal and woodlands and the local pub The Star Inn provides amazing food and the local people so friendly. The dogs loved it so much. We will definitely be looking to book another cottage with Eastrushton soon.”

- sue bell

“2nd year using East Ruston Cottages and its the 2nd year we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I cant speak highly enough of this company. Highly recommend them and do. This year we stayed at Holmes House. The owner was there to meet and greet us and say goodbye. And was only a phone call away if we needed anything. The House was clean to a very high standard. And the garden was totally dog proof which was excellent for our 6 dogs to wonder around with the worry. This is an extremely dog friendly company. We struggle to find places that accept 6 dogs but this is not a problem for East Ruston. The properties they have situated around a lot of dog friendly pubs, beaches, walks etc. Now going on the website to book next years lol.”

- Claire Beeton

“Just back from a great holiday in Mid Thatch cottage at Sea Palling. Lovely cottage within walking distance of a lovely beach our two rough collie dogs loved it. People very friendly and a real dog friendly cottage and village. Lovely welcome hamper and doggie treats too.”

- Denise Cox

“Stayed at Farthing Cottage. Super dog friendly, everything provided, lovely beds and throws and even home made doggy treats on arrival. Very secure garden which was amazing to have. Well equipped cottage with lovely comfy bed and nice and warm with under floor heating. Will def stay again!! ”

- Emma Watts

“Orchard Cottage Happisburgh. Well equipped cottage excellent for 4 border collies they found the enclosed garden very suitable for their needs. The beach was very near and empty for them to have a wonderful time.”

- Richard Taphouse

“Had a lovely week at Milestone Barn, which was lovely and cosy in January. Situated in a great place for exploring Norfolk. The Barn is homely, comfortable and clean just perfect for us and our dogs.”

- Lesley

“We LOVE Running Hare Barn, so well thought out and beautifully finished, set up for humans and Dogs perfectly Had a wonderful stay.”

- R & H Ward

“We stayed at Orchard Cottage in Happisburgh over New Year and thoroughly enjoyed our week. The cottage was well appointed, completely dog friendly and in a great location. We had everything we needed to self cater although the local inn was also extremely friendly, welcomed our dog and provided good value food. The cottage had lots of extras for doggie visitors, towels, throws, treats and was a short walk to the beautiful beach. ”

- Jayne Potter

“Stayed at Farthing Cottage over the Christmas. Very Dog Friendly and enclosed garden. Cottage was very cosy. All mod cons. Would recommend. ”

- Mary newman-stackable

“10 of us and our 2 four legged friends have just come back from the most enjoyable Xmas hols in Oak Cottage. We stayed here before and it was even more homely 2nd time round felt like home from home. Lovely log fires, fantastic kitted out kitchen, nothing left to chance. Doggy bikkys and human goodies on arrival with all the Xmas decs and 2 xmas trees lovely. The sign of a good holiday is when the days go too fast which was exactly what happened here, it seemed like the 7 days speeded up into half the time. Lovely quit location, well secured gardens all around the property, and the added bonus of a pub a stones throw down the quiet lane and i have to say the publican was very friendly and they allow dogs in the snug part of the bar. All in all a fantastic place to stay.”

- chris and lyn doyle

“Had a lovely Christmas at Heather Cottage. The cottage was cosy and very dog friendly, thoughtful dog biscuits and bottle of champagne in arrival.... very friendly pub within crawling distance! Lovely quiet dog friendly beaches all around, including the beach at happisburgh just a few minutes walk. Highly recommend! ”

- Kelly simonds

“RUNNING HARE BARN - Part of the amazing East Ruston Cottage group. The barn, renovated by Sue and Dermot is just magical! So well designed, with everything equipment wise you could wish for and so much more! Half the fun is opening various trunks, hampers nooks and crannies to reveal throws, blankets and all sorts of items. We stayed here for the barns first Christmas. A REAL Christmas tree and beautiful rustic decorations so in tune with the barn, including lights wound up the staircases to the very top of the barn ( think mini Hogwarts! ) Dogs are so well catered for, the outdoor shower came in very useful, after completing some of the lovely walks that surround the barn, plus you are only a short drive away from the beautiful beach at Happisburgh. Comfy, cosy, welcoming and wonderful!”

- Joan Lockett

“Had a short break at Thatchers 29/11-2/12/16 what a wonderful property, felt like Lady of Manor. Very impressive drive way up to the stunning house, beautiful gardens that wrap around the house. Lots of wonderful places for my greys to explore. Such a perfect garden for them as they seldom go off lead. As there was only 3 of us plus the greys we spent most of the time in the kitchen/dinning area which was massive and the snug which was cosy and very warm due to the underfloor heating, which was perfect. ”

- Bev Bratby

“Lovely truely dog friendly cottage. Very well equipped for both humans and dogs including throws so that the dos can sit next to you on the sofa spare leads and dog treats Large garden from which you can see the lighthouse and within easy walking distance of a dog friendly beach This was our second holiday at the cottage and will certainly not be our last”

- A Mawson

“We have just had our second holiday at White Cottage and once again cannot fault a thing! It's perfect for both humans and dogs! Beautiful cottage equipped with everything you can think of and the garden is so secure which gives peace of mind! Lovely walks from the door, both countryside and coastal. Just perfect! ”

- Joanne Rowell

“'WOW' as we (7 of us & 2 dogs) walked through the door of Running Hare Barn into the fabulous kitchen/family room. Fantastic house very dog friendly, loved the outside shower/facilities for the dogs especially when back from long walks, brilliant. We had a fabulous week, loved the little things like cake left for us Champagne in the fridge, great welcome, especially by Auntie. Definitely recommend to our family and friends. Look forward to coming back another time.”

- Janet Purser

“The White Cottage What a superb cottage this is, it is sooooo dog friendly with a totally secure garden, and yet when you walk in the door, you would never think that a single paw had ever crossed the threshold, not a dog hair in sight, and absolutely no doggy smell! Lots of room and of course the delicious dog and human treats on arrival, I'm not a bit surprised that securing a booking at The White Cottage means booking a couple of years in advance :)”

- Sue Mccabe

“Back from our second stay at Farthing Cottage. Just perfect for us and our hounds to escape from the large firework display close to where we live. Some fabulous walks, so many dog friendly pubs. Beautiful cottage, everything you need and more. Already booked for next year. East Ruston Cottages are fabulous, we've stayed in a few now. Highly recommended.”

- Sue Hunt

“We have stayed in several of East Ruston Cottages and have found them all marvelous. Very dog friendly and very well equipt. We have just had a week at Orchard Cottage at Happisburgh and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is very roomy and very cosy, It has everything you need for your pooches and your selves. There is a large enclosed garden which is great for the dogs. The local pub is very welcoming to dogs , ( I think they prefer dogs to Humans) . Plenty to do , loads of places to walk dogs. Fab beach and woods not far away. Will certainly go again. ”

- Jackie Klein

“Have stayed at numerous ERC properties over the past 5 years and whilst each is unique they all have the same thing in common, that dogs are not just allowed but actively welcomed. One of the big plus points of booking through ERC is that they have a wide range of properites available to fit any number of guests (and dogs) but also any budget. Can't reccomend highly enough and already have our booking for two properties in summer of 2017 made. ”

- Paul

“Very friendly for our two dogs , and very comfortable for us. Excellent will be back next year Thanks to you both. ”

- Malcolm + Sandra Sapsford

“Just returned home from a week at Holmes House. We couldn't have been made more welcome in all aspects. Genuinely dog friendly unlike so many places that are just dog tolerant. The house was lovely and the garden was fully enclosed - perfect for two slightly anxious dogs to rampage around in safely. The walks (and bike rides) right on the doorstep were an absolute joy - we literally walked for miles without meeting another soul”

- Rachel Brown

“We have just returned from a great week at Farthing Cottage in the lovely village of Trunch. The property is truly dog friendly, well equipped and spotlessly clean. There is a great dog friendly pub just down the road with excellent beer and a dog biscuit on every visit! Mundesley beach is only a five minute drive away, although there are many fantastic country walks straight from the cottage. With so many great towns, villages, beaches and National Trust properties within a short drive away, that are all excellent for dog walks, Trunch is really well positioned. We will definitely be returning to Farthing Cottage soon. It has been the most relaxing holiday with a dog we have ever had. Can't recommend enough.”

- Adrian Osborne

“We had a truly lovely three night break at Mid Thatch Cottage in Sea Palling. This is the second dog friendly break we have booked through East Ruston Cottages, having previously stayed at Snowdrop Cottage in Winterton. We have a third booked for January and am scanning the website now to see what else I can book for future holidays! We have been impressed by both the quality of the cottages and the friendly and efficient booking service from Sue. Mid Thatch Cottage was cosy and very well presented. The wood burning stove and lovely under floor heating mean that it will be comfortable year round. Super comfortable beds and everything you could need in the kitchen area. Lovely shower room too! The welcome goodies including local cake and treats for our two beagle girls were a lovely touch. The sun trap paved yard area at the front of the house was brilliant for the dogs and you could walk to the beach across the field path or through the village. A handy local store, fish and chip shop and The Reefs Bar means that most needs are catered for. We would recommend both cottages and East Ruston Cottages as a company. We wished we had booked for a week and we're sorry to leave. East Ruston is now our go to cottage company for dog friendly holidays.”

- Carol

“Just had a wonderful weekend at corner cottage, all I can say is what a great place, fully equipped, wonderful enclosed garden, very quiet excellent all greyhounds and there slaves will definitely be coming back!! Many thanks”

- Jayne

“Walnut Farmhouse is a fabulous, beautiful, spacious and very dog friendly place to stay. The house is equipped to a high standard and the garden is well maintained and is super for the dogs to run around in - very secure. We had a lovely time and hopefully will be booking to go there again soon. Lovely walks around the Farm. ”

- Gail Maskell

“Just got home from an amazing holiday at the White Cottage. The dogs loved it we loved it but the sad thing is so does everyone who stays there!,,, So we can't book for next year as its full 2017. But will try later just in case there is a cancellation😉”

- Pamela collyer

“We stayed for two weeks at Thatchers with our five dogs plus a puppy in September/October. Fabulous property, beautiful setting, absolutely perfect.”

- Chris & Ron Johnson

“Stayed at St Bennets in Sea Palling 1 to 8 October 2016. Really nice 5 bedroom house, clean, very well equipped, much "homelier" than most holiday cottages, comfortable. Secure garden for even the tiniest of dogs, not a beautiful garden, but functional. even provided dog beds, dog towels and bowls. only 100 yards from the beach and from a lovely coastal path, brilliant for Walkies from the door.good fish and chip shop and nice cafe less than 100 yards, and bar/diner. the latter was very dog friendly, but I thought it a bit rough round the edges. actually, I found everywhere really dog friendly, we ordered fish and chips, they asked how many dogs we had, then just put in sufficient sausages for them free of charge. i will not only return to norfolk, but will book with east Ruston cottages again for sure. big human and doggy thumbs up.”

- jan and rich oakman , 6 Kane Family members and one sprog + two dogs

“We've just had a fantastic week at Corner Cottage, Lessingham, with our friends & 6 dogs between us! A beautiful property furnished to a high standard & in a perfect location just a 10 minute drive to the nearest of the many wonderful sandy beaches & a 10 minute walk to The Star pub which has fabulous food & a very friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend any of East Rushton properties as all the ones we have been to have been superb.”

- Jane Monks

“Oak Cottage in East Ruston, is a fib! It's not a cottage, but a beautiful house which is so welcoming and comfortable for both two legged and four legged holiday makers. Absolutely ideal for a 'mixed' age of family as it has a lovely ground floor double bedroom, adjacent to a roomy walk in shower room, and has easy access to both the front and back gardens. Upstairs more double bedrooms with one of the biggest baths I've seen! A comfortable sitting room, leading into a large dining area. Dog beds, throws and even cages are available, along with special treats left by the proprietor! A really dog friendly pub at the end of the lane withe great food completes this lovely family getaway. EAST RUSTON COTTAGES - Just the best!”

- Joan Lockett

“We have just spent a week at white cottage with 6 adults and 6 Springers ...lovely cottage love the area lovely company to deal with very thoughtful and are truly dog friendly we have already booked for our 2017 and 2018 and will never have to look anywhere else now 😊 ”

“Daisy Cottage, at Sea Palling, we had the most wonderful week! Beautiful beach walks, the freshest fish and chips, 2p shuffle arcade for my boys, truly amazing location!, Daisy Cottage was perfect, squidgy sofa's, throws for doglets, Cluedo and Jenga for boys, and the most fabulous welcome hamper! We loved it so much we booked again as soon as we were home! ”

- Priscilla Greenwood

“Stayed at Daisy Cottage in Sea Palling, cottage has everything you need, decorated absolutely beautifully, welcome tray was amazing with the most fantastic brownies from the local shop. Just a couple of minutes walk from the lovely beach which is ideal for dog walking. Would definitely book again, only downside is that it is always booked up! Love it!”

- M Hudson

“We have stayed at Holmes House twice and once at The Piggery. Fantastic dog friendly accomodation. Excellent customer service! Lots to see and do in the area. Would definitely recommend. We lost our dog last year but have recently acquired a puppy so look forward to staying at other cottages in East Ruston and enjoying the warm Norfolk welcome and big skies!”

- Gill Dunn

“Fabulous dog friendly cottages in a lovely area can do broads seaside or countryside lovely hosts comfy cottages cant recommend it enough ”

- Jo brown

“We have stayed at The Lodge, and Holmes House. Excellent dog friendly properties, without being dog eared. Owners do everything they can to accommodate humNs and dogs. We have four dogs, but are made very welcome. Local walks and pubs are lovely, and we have found the local people to be very friendly.”

- Sue herridge

“St Benets at Sea Palling - Brilliant dog friendly 3 story town house, with safe enclosed garden. Brilliant for families too as it is so close to the beach, and has cafes and amusements to boot! Thumbs and paws up for this lovely holiday let!”

- Joan Lockett

“We've been to The Old Piggery 9 times now, it really is the best dog friendly cottage EVER! we have 6 dogs - 2 spaniels, 2 lurchers, a pointer and a setter - all of them absolutely love it there - it's like our second home. Everything has been thought of and Sue and Dermot the owners couldn't be more helpful. I've recommended East Ruston Cottages to loads of doggie friends and everyone loves it! the only downside - they get booked up so far in advance!”

- Penel Malby

“Quite simply the best dog friendly cottages I have ever stayed in. I took 9 dogs to The Old Piggery in March this year & they had a whale of a time on the deserted beaches & in the woods. Sue made us very welcome & being a genuine dog lover herself has ensured the cottages cater for dogs just as much as the humans. Not having to worry about the dogs doing something they shouldn't - as I have in the past in other 'dog friendly' cottages - means a truly relaxing & enjoyable holiday. I have been twice this year already & can't wait to go back! ”

- Julie Higham

“We have stayed at The Forge & Red Roofs - both are lovely lovely places. Beautiful surroundings, great places to visit, outdoors and indoors alike, and all you could want from a holiday home - it really is more of a "home". Dog friendly - more like a dogs best friend! Our pups have been completely relaxed on our holidays to Norfolk, making it perfect for us humans too. Hosts are lovely and very helpful. I highly recommend East Ruston Cottages to anyone!! ”

- Natalie Adams

“We always take our dogs with us on holiday and have stayed at many "so called dog friendly" cottages. We have stayed at the Piggery and forge many times and they are by far the most dog friendly plus the accomadation is brilliant.”

- Jenny Rawlings

“Lovely cottages, really home from home, dogs are very very welcome :)) There is none of the dogs can't do this or that". Hosts are excellent and very helpful, cottages are clean and well equiped. Lovely places to visit in area too. No limit to number of dogs either. Overall great dog friendly cottages ”

- Vanessa Jones

“ Excellent dog friendly accommodation, lovely area, lot's of walking and places to visit, everything you could possibly want and more for a relaxing holiday. ”

- Nicole James

“If you want a perfect holiday for you and your dogs this is the place to come. Super walks in woods or beaches, dog friendly pubs and hosts who know how important your dogs are to you.”

- Judy Lee
