The Bay Horse Inn, West Woodburn, is a delightful 18th century coaching inn built in mellowed sandstone, nestling by a stone bridge over the River Rede in the Cheviot Hills of Northumberland. This is the place to stop on your journey: to rest, drink, eat well and relax in a warm friendly, informal atmosphere.

Our bedrooms are all en-suite and the garden stretches down to the river and contains a grassed area equipped with garden tables. We have good parking at the inn, including space for coaches by appointment.

The Bay Horse Inn stands on the A68 route Darlington to Edinburgh, within easy reach of the commercial centres of the North East. We are 4 miles from Otterburn, 19 miles from Kielder, 20 miles from Corbridge and just 24 miles from Newcastle Airport. For ramblers, cyclists, horse riders and leisure travellers alike we are in a perfect situation to enjoy the beautiful Cheviot Hill countryside.

We are also dog friendly. Dogs are welcome in the Bar and Accommodation.

At The Bay Horse Inn our menus offer an unusually wide and extensive range of dishes carefully prepared from the best local meats, fish and vegetables.

Visitors are welcome to choose a tasty snack or to dine in style with a bottle of fine wine. For vegetarians and vegans we can offer an interesting alternative selection.  Please also ask us about our gluten free options. Children have their own menu or may choose selected dishes from the main menus.

Diners can choose where they wish to eat, either in our comfortable bar on dining size tables, or in the intimate atmosphere of our restaurant. Treat yourself to one of Hilda's freshly prepared puddings, legendary throughout the area.

On a Sunday we serve a delicious carvery!  Absolutely delicious, there is always a choice of at least 2 other roasts.
