Nestled in a private 200 acre woodland, at the foot of the Black Mountains, this charming stone holiday cottage provides idyllic rural peace and seclusion, and is the ideal base for exploring some of the most stunning countryside on the Wales/England borders.

Cefn y Waun really is far from the madding crowd! ‘Cefn y Waun’ translates to “the back of the heath” which perfectly describes the rural location of the cottage, on the ridge of the Hay Forest.

Peace and quiet is guaranteed as the cottage is located in our privately owned 200 acre woodland, through which guests have the freedom to wander. Right on the doorstep are The Black Mountains which offer fantastic walking country, with breath-taking views extending to the Brecon Beacons, the Radnorshire hills and across to the English borders.

Explore the local town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its independent boutiques and countless bookshops. Choose from a great range of pubs and restaurants, before making your way back to Cefn y Waun for a soak in the deep bathtub or to relax in the cosy sitting room in front of the wood burning stove, maybe with a glass of wine.

There is no better way to relax than in our log fired cedar hot tub. Situated in the secluded grounds of the cottage, with the breath-taking views of the Black Mountains, the hot tub is an optional extra which is available to hire throughout the year for just £55 per visit.

There are no nasty chemicals in our tub, just clean fresh water and the cost includes three crates of wood and a crate of kindling. This will be enough wood to get the hot tub up to temperature and to provide a further use the following day. How much wood you will use depends on the amount of time you use the tub and the gap between each session. The tub has an insulated cover to help keep the temperature in when not in use.

Additional crates of wood, for use in the hot tub or the log burner inside the cottage, are available for an additional £13 per crate.
