Mocktree Barns were once a set of farm buildings, but have been converted to provide five distinctive and individually furnished cottages situated around a south-facing courtyard. We live in the adjacent house, once the threshing barn.

We are actively involved in promoting green tourism and we garden organically. Guests are welcome to enjoy our wildlife friendly gardens and the courtyard has tables and chairs for relaxing and eating outdoors in the summer.

Two of the cottages (Kit and Weavers) are suitable for less mobile guests.

Jinney Ring (sleeps 4 + 2)
This is the largest of the cottages and originally housed the donkey gin for driving the mill wheels.

Jinney Ring is ideal for a family of four, but can accommodate up to six people. Downstairs there is a comfortable open plan lounge/dining room looking onto the courtyard and the countryside beyond.

Stable (sleeps 2 + 1)
This pretty cottage provides ample accommodation for two and has delightful views towards the Clee Hills and south over the garden and neighbouring farmland.

Kibble Mill (sleeps 2)
The grinding room of the mill was once here, but it is now a cosy cottage of charm and individuality.

The entrance faces away from the courtyard and offers privacy as well as easy access to the parking area. The half-glazed stable door faces west; an added bonus to take advantage of the afternoon summer sun. There is a small garden area with furniture but the courtyard and other garden areas are also there to be enjoyed.

Kibble Mill has been lovingly furnished and equipped with a ‘hint of yesteryear’. Many of the pieces have a story to tell and you can enjoy reading about them during your stay!

Kit & Weavers (both sleep 2)
These adjoining single-storey cottages face south and open directly onto the paved courtyard.

They originally housed the farm carts and animals but now offer more comfortable accommodation!

These cottages have good headroom and are on one level, with no internal steps. They are particularly suitable for our less mobile guests.

Local Area
Mocktree Barns are located on the Herefordshire / Shropshire border in the heart of historic Mortimer Country yet only seven miles from the splendid medieval market town of Ludlow. Whatever the season, there is plenty to do. There are great opportunities for walkers and nature-lovers, for anglers and bird watchers, for golfers and geologists.

Public rights-of-way are there for you to walk through the woods and fields, explore the quiet valleys and lanes and climb to the top of the hills to marvel at the view. Nearby are Wenlock Edge, the Long Mynd, Clee Hill, the Teme Valley, Mortimer Forest and Offa’s Dyke Path.

Border castles are in abundance – notably Stokesay, Clun, Powis and Ludlow – and there are several National Trust properties within a short drive. The village of Leintwardine, once a Roman settlement, is only two miles away.

There is much to discover in the nearby towns – Church Stretton, Bishop’s Castle, Much Wenlock, Tenbury Wells, Leominster, Knighton and, above all, Ludlow.
