Tarr Farm Inn - Dog Friendly Inn, in Dulverton, Somerset

Tarr Farm is a beautiful inn dating from the 1600s based in the heart of the Exmoor National Park right by the historic Tarr Steps on the River Barle. We’ve won numerous awards for our fantastic food. You can book a table in our cosy bar and feast on our hearty bar menu or enjoy our more formal restaurant with a full a la carte menu. If the weather is good, we have tables outside in our garden which overlooks Tarr Steps.

Round it off with a stay in one of our comfortable rooms and take a seat for one of our delicious breakfasts in the morning. We are family friendly and also welcome your four legged friends too.

Rooms
Each of the nine rooms at Tarr Farm Inn has been designed to provide every  modern comfort. Fresh and contemporary, the bedrooms and bathrooms are generously proportioned and little luxuries such as locally made organic bath products, power showers and full size baths, the fluffiest bathrobes and towels and Egyptian cotton sheets are included.

Television,  DVD players and iPod docking stations with a radio allow you to really relax, while a pull-out desk, wi-fi and telephone makes working convenient. You’ll find all the facilities you’d expect – iron and ironing board, mini bar tea and fresh coffee with fresh milk, our own homemade biscuits, personal safes and a basket of essentials you may have forgotten.

Food
We use only the finest local ingredients which are put together by our expert team with fantastic bar food and delicious a la carte meals in our restaurant. In 2017 we were named as one of the Top 50 Gastropubs in the UK, and we were a finalist in the Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards 2017 as well as a finalist in the Muddy Stilettos 'Best Destination Pub' in Somerset 2018. In 2022 we have been chosen to provide the catering for Badminton Retreat and the VIP area at the Glastonbury Festival.

We’re also well known in the area for our fantastic Sunday Roasts. Delicious local meat with mouthwatering crispy roast potatoes, fresh vegetables and all the trimmings - booking is essential!

Explore
There are so many ways in which to enjoy Tarr Farm’s incredible surroundings. Exmoor offers some of the most spectacular walking in the country with its beautiful, tranquil moorland and stunning views towards Wales and Dartmoor. Wildlife abounds here with red deer, the famous Exmoor ponies, a thriving bat population and even otters. Bird watchers will find themselves in heaven – Exmoor boasts 243 species of bird.

For the sporty, the options are endless – mountain biking, rock climbing and abseiling, kayaking, surfing on the North Devon coast (just 40 minutes away), horse riding, sailing and windsurfing at nearby Wimbleball Lake, clay pigeon shooting and fly or sea fishing. Or how about a 4X4 off-road safari – a great way to see Exmoor from a different perspective!
