The Old Stables - Dog Friendly Bed & Breakfast in Shepton Mallet, Somerset
The Old Stables is dog friendly and provides you with a peaceful retreat to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside.
Perfectly located for exploring the very best of Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and beyond.
Beautifully decorated en-suite rooms (with mini-fridge) and all amenities. Our hearty (locally sourced) farmhouse breakfast is hard to beat!
Rooms
We have three rooms available at The Old Stables, each tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and equipped making your stay that extra bit special!
The Garden Room: The Garden Room is our only ground floor room with French doors right out on to the lawn. Lovely in any season.
-----------------------
The Granary: This lovely large room is beautifully decorated in shades of reds and maroons and sits right up in the eaves of the house. You’ll wake gently to the sounds of the cooing wood pigeons who like to sit up on that section of our roof in the morning sunshine.
-----------------------
The Hayloft: This spacious room has southerly rural views over our designated dog field and the countryside beyond.
-----------------------
Guests are seated at a long table in our dining room but there is plenty of room if you would rather just have a quiet breakfast to yourselves. So please don’t worry that you will be obliged to have a full conversation with the other guests. We totally understand that we aren’t all morning people!
Dog Friendly
We are happy to welcome responsible dog owners and well behaved house-trained dogs (minimum age of 1 year) at The Old Stables. We cannot accept dogs that are likely to be at all aggressive to other dogs or people. It may not be appropriate the bring elderly dogs, due to having to negotiate stairs, or any dogs who have behavioural or incontinence issues.
For direct bookings all dogs stay free otherwise a £10.00 per stay fee applies. Please note that dogs will only be accepted on a pre-booked basis. We regret that guests who arrive without advance notification of bringing a dog may not be able to stay. We allow a maximum of 2 dogs per booking.
We do not supply any bedding or food so please bring your own. You will receive a well-stocked Pup Pack when you arrive. This will contain the necessaries such as poop bags, towel, carpet spray for any accidents, kitchen roll as well as a jar of treats, dog bowls, a placemat for any spills, lots of information on walks and days out with your dogs and a toy to keep.
We have a three acre fully fenced designated dog field for our guest dogs to enjoy.

The Area
Wake up in the Country: There’s just something about a break that includes stunning natural beauty to explore. We are located in the beautiful rural hamlet of Chelynch and believe us when we say that the only thing waking you up in the morning will be the sound of the cows waiting for their breakfast!
Glastonbury: We are a short 20 minute journey to the Ancient Isle of Avalon – Glastonbury! It’s a must visit and we are fortunate to be in easy proximity. How about following the Glastonbury Treasure Trail – a fun, self-guided treasure hunt walking trail – a great way to explore Glastonbury.
