Reviews

“My husband booked this as a surprise for my 50th birthday. We had a fabulous couple of nights here, the only thing I would change would be to stay longer! The barn (Alde Barn) was so cute and cosy with everything you could need - a great breakfast basket, filter coffee, nespresso, plenty of hot water for showers, lovely hot tub, safe garden for our dog, 2 acre secure meadow for dogs. The area is lovely. We walked along to the church about half a mile along the road, it was idyllic. We loved Suffolk, visiting Dunwich Beach and Sutton Hoo and felt like we were returning home at the end of the day to relax in the barn and hot tub.”

“Nestled in the quiet Suffolk countryside are these fabulous barns, we stayed in Gipping Barn for two nights and could have happily stayed longer. The barn itself is just amazing, so beautifully put together, and has every little thing thought of to make for a really relaxing stay. The hot tub was fantastic and the garden is totally dog proof so they could roam outside while we chilled in the tub. The doggy paddock is perfect for them to burn off some energy but there’s lots of lovely walks nearby too. We spend the Saturday visiting the picturesque Southwold, there’s dog friendly beaches away from the main promenade, lots of dog friendly cafes, all in all a really nice day out. We chose to eat in both evenings as the barn was so lovely we wanted to maximise our time there. Delicious deli/breakfast basket made us wish we could get fresh supplies like these closer to home. Lovely shower, hairdryer provided, robes and slippers for the hot tub.... it’s the little details that make this place extra special. Overall can’t recommend highly enough.”

“We stayed Mon-Fri with our little cocker. What a fantastic stay. The barn was so cosy! Every little detail was thought of. We had a warm welcome, given lots of useful information and were greeted with a delicious breakfast hamper! We used Carl’s guide and the website he’s created to do some days out. Other days we spent inside on the sofa eating!! The meadow across the road was perfect for these days as our dog could still burn off energy. Fantastic place & people. I would highly recommend, we have another stay booked for June in Alde barn and already can’t wait. We left feeling so relaxed and refreshed. Thank you!! X”

“We decided for the first time in many years to get away from it all with our two dogs and spent a wonderful few days over Christmas in Granary Cottage at Woodfarm Barns. Carl was there on arrival to greet us. It was already festively decorated and were left a hamper full of goodies for us and the dogs. We spent Christmas Eve walking on heathland near the Bird Sanctuary and on the beach at Dunwich. We were then welcomed, along with doggies, into the beautiful church in Stoneham Aspal, for a Carol Service in the evening. Thank you Carl for a wonderful stay as usual (we have already stayed in the Farmhouse with friends) and hope to be back very soon”

“I visited here in June 2018 and have only just got round to writing the review! However this place deserves top marks! We stayed in the Granary Barn for 4 nights with our three mini dachshunds. Carl has thought of everything from oil for cooking to dog poo bags!!! There is even a lovely field opposite for a dog walk with a boat bench! Totally recommend this place to anyone!”

“Booked to stay in The Stour Barn on the weekend of 7th Dec 2018 as a surprise for my wife’s 30th. Carl and the Team were amazing in helping me make the stay special. We arrived late on Friday and we had no issues of getting in to the barn, thanks to the key safe located right by the door. The hot tub was on waiting for us so was nice and hot. We also had a breakfast basket on the side. I ordered flowers and a balloon from near by Lucy Jane Flowers and they had easy access in the day to leave them on the side ready for our arrival. The whole place is peaceful and relaxing. No noise what so ever. Theres an ice bucket and glasses right by the hot tub ideal for a bottle of bubbles :-) In ‘the shed’, which was located next to our barn, had a ton of dvds and cds for use while your there. There are also bikes you can use free of charge if you wish! We recommend visiting the Owl Sanctuary just up the road and doing the Meerkat encounter. The experience was amazing! Tip: If you plan on using taxi’s while you’re there do book in advance. We went for dinner at the Crown, which is about 8 miles away and we had to wait over an hour for a cab back. In fairness Carl warned us about the cabs but we didn’t pre book because we didn’t wanna clock watch. The beer price was reasonable so it was no big deal. We enjoyed a few drinks before heading back to finish the evening in the massive hot tub! Thank you Woodfarm barns for a fantastic weekend celebrating my Wife’s 30th Birthday. We will return in the future!”

“Amazing chilled weekend spent at Woodfarm Barns!! Really well appointed barn with amazing outside covered hot tub! Couldn’t have asked for any more to make our stay any better!!”

“What an amazing barn conversion. Totally loved reading about it's building work and painstaking restoration. The finished article is a real credit to those involved. It's cosy, warm and comfy and VERY VERY beautiful! Spent a gorgeous day in Southwold with our little dog; the beach was lovely and very well maintained. We went to Lavenham and OMG, if you like something quaint and out of the ordinary you absolutely must go there! Best cream tea in the world at Chilli & Chives in the High Street. Freshly baked scones with lashings of fresh whipped cream and raspberry jam to die for! Some beautiful churches including Crowfield and Blythburgh. The barn was a fantastic find we couldn't have asked for more and we will be back soon! Thanks and love”

“Another visit to the Granary and to eat at Carl & Mark's Pop Up Restaurant again. This is a great experience with superb food and cookery lesson with Mark. Definitely recommended. You have a winning formula and we wish you the very best for the future. All in all, a great weekend, very many thanks to you both”

“The fact that we are on our 4th visit to Woodfarm Barns. says it all!; :-) On our first visit to the Granary in September 2011 we watched the oak beams being delivered for the other barns. Having stayed in the Granary again and also Woodfarm House with the family we decided this time to try Deben Barn. It's cosy and warm and you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in the door. Alice our Golden Retriever loves the garden, her usual walk down to the churchyard and then on the footpath across the field to a pool for her morning swim!! The weather has been amazing and we have walked and walked. We found that you can park at the harbour in Southwold and then walk over the bridge to Walberswick. It takes about 40-50 minutes, then you can walk over the sand dunes and along the beach for miles. Lunch served at 3pm at the Anchor Inn was a bonus and they welcome dogs. Thank you Carl as usual and we will be back later in the year x PS. didn't mean to write another novel in your book but get carried away! xx”
