The Crown Inn at Dial Post - Dog Friendly Pub in Dial Post, West Sussex

The Crown Inn at Dial Post, West Sussex is an award-winning free house owned and run by Penny and James Middleton Burn. Opposite the village green, the pub has a strong reputation for the excellent quality of its homemade food.

The daily menu consists of pub classics and seasonal specials cooked by owner and head chef James, always using fresh ingredients and nearly everything is cooked from scratch. The pub supports local Sussex breweries, farmers, suppliers and producers and James is often out foraging for wild food.

People Friendly and Dog Friendly
Penny is very much a local country girl having been born into a Dial Post farming family. The Crown Inn is people friendly as well as dog friendly, with a good mix of locals and diners. There is comfy seating in the bar area with a light and airy garden room and restaurant for eating. The pub has a beer garden as well as a patio overlooking the village green and if you want to stay over there are four beautifully appointed rooms above the pub plus two self catering cottages in what used to be the old stable block.

There are many excellent walks over the surrounding West Sussex countryside and exciting and unusual wildlife to be seen on the neighbouring Knepp Castle Estate, known for its re-wilding project.
