Vatersay - Dog Friendly Beach in Castlebay, Western Isles.
Two beaches lie either side of a narrow machair peninsula on Vatersay.
This most southerly of the Western Isles offers windswept sand and outstanding natural beauty to the visitor.
Above the west beach is a monument to the three hundred and fifty people who lost their lives in the shipwreck of the emigrant sailing ship "Annie Rose" in 1853.
This is also the site of the crash of an RAF Catalina seaplane in the Second World War, also with loss of life.
