A Dog 4 Life - Dog Trainer and Behaviourist
covering Yorkshire area
Well behaved dogs are not born, they are trained and training can start from the very first day you bring your new puppy home. We offer a truly personalised service to fit with your family and your valuable time, all in the comfort of your own home. As we only offer 121 training, we can concentrate on you and your puppy's needs and unlike training classes we have no need to wait until vaccinations before training can begin. Your carefully chosen puppy deserves the best training start in life - A Dog 4 Life.
Our aim is to make a difference by delivering modern, science-based, positive reward training using ‘The Clever Dog Company Method’ to ensure that you have a puppy who grows into a dog to be proud of; preventing behavioural problems with the use of kind, fair, effective dog training methods, so you don't have to face the stress, damage and heartache that these can cause.
We don't just work with puppies either. Whether you have a Labrador or a Cocker Spaniel, a Chihuahua to a Great Dane, a Beagle or a Border Collie, a puppy, a rescue dog, an adolescent or an older dog we have a bespoke training package that delivers results.
Rosemary is an animal lover with experience of numerous breeds of dogs and has an interest in puppies and also the “Gundog” breeds. One of the joys of dog training for her is seeing the first understanding of a puppy or dog to a clicker and seeing the relationship develop between dog and owner as they continue to learn and train together.
Rosemary currently has a Chocolate Labrador and two pedigree cats. Through her Chocolate Labrador she has gained ‘hands on’ experience of living with and training a dog on restricted exercise following surgery. Sadly more and more dogs need elbow, hip or knee surgery requiring weeks of restriction and slow rehabilitation to gain the best possible result.
A Dog 4 Life can provide training and advice both pre- and post op and is more than happy to consult with your vet, physio or other health care professional to improve this difficult time for your dog. She also has experience of introducing a puppy to resident house cats.
Rosemary has studied several of Sarah Whitehead's Clever Dog Company courses, including the Think Dog! Certificate Course, the Think Dog! Practical Dog Handling course (under the expert instruction of Sarah Whitehead and Stella Bagshaw), and the Think Dog! Intermediate course and is currently studying a Canine Nutrition course and regularly updates her skills with online courses.
As a trainer I use positive reinforcement methods which are based upon science to deliver kind, fair, effective training which is force free and pain free. I adhere to the Code of Practice of The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).in the UK
