Hello - thanks for reading my listing.
Dog sitting – short pop-in visits through to holiday live in sitting
Whilst kennels or home boarding suit many dogs, some cope better being looked after their own homes so that they can follow their usual routine while their humans are away. This is the service I offer. This can be during the day, evening, overnight or for the duration of a holiday. Some clients just like me to pop in for one or two hours so their dog is not alone for more than a few hours, others like to have me there for the whole time they are out.
Getting to know you and your dog(s)
To check that your dog is happy with me (and my car) and you can see how we interact, I always have a free of charge meeting and trial walk. To ensure I’m fully briefed on your dog's routine, behaviour and needs I’d ask you to complete my Doggy Details form ahead of this meeting as it often prompts questions or information you hadn’t previously thought of.
In terms of experience, I have informally dog sat for many family and friends over the years. Since 2010, I have volunteered at Celia Cross Greyhound Trust for whom I have fostered 26 dogs during this time. On four occasions I have lived on site at the rescue to look after the kennel manager’s own dogs and be responsible for the rescue dogs and kennels overnight.
You can view my DBS certificate when we meet. I have attended Canine First Aid training (my 3 year refresher course was this March) and I am insured - view my insurance cover here.
I also bake excellent dog biscuits and dog muffins – and make dog iced treats in the summer. I am a communications consultant but no longer accept full time office-based contracts in order to spend more time working with dogs.
For a single dog I charge
- £60 per day if your dog can be left for a couple of hours each day
- £80 per day where you require if 24-hour attendance
For shorter visits the first hour is £20 and subsequent hours £10 each – capped at the daily rate.
For larger fur-families, please contact me for a quotation
I have a 5 mile/20-minute radius of my home (KT6) where no subsistence charges apply. However I am happy to travel further afield charging petrol at 40p per mile and fresh food at cost. Visitor parking permits / fees must be supplied if parking charges apply.
